mouse in my car. looking for advise.

hey guys,

So my car has been at my buddies house for a few months while I have been waiting to get a garage at my apt so I can rebuilt the head (timing belt snapped). I finally got a garage and we get the car over there and I see a bunch of mouse droppings in the trunk area and back seat.

I havent really inspected it too closely yet but I am worried about diseases and things live that. Does anyone know of any good disinfectants or anything like that i could use. Any advise would be appreciated.

I plan on ripping out the carpet and cleaning it in the near future but for now cleaning it out is my first concern.

Hahaha that sucks dude. I would be more worried about the wiring than disinfecting. Lysol should do good. Check your dash and ac vents. Lay out some poisin pellets or something to kill those rat bastards!!!

I've been told that putting dryer sheets (like Snuggle or Downy) keeps the mice away. That's what I did when I used to winter store my Talon at a friends farm building, I had no mice problems. I put about 6 sheets inside the car and one on each tire.

I would think vacuuming it out along with some household disinfectant would do the trick. As far as killing the mouse that may still live there id opt for a trap of a sort. And to keep the little buggers away I use moth balls when I store my car...a clean storage area is always a good idea. Hope that helps

Supposedly Bounce dryer sheets are the best to use. After dealing with a mouse ultimately bending an intake valve, I no longer take any chances.

Had the intake pipe disconnected by the stock 1g BOV during winter. After throwing it all together and taking it for a ride in the spring, the throttle kept getting stuck open. Peice of dog food got through and must have propped a valve open enough for the piston to silly slap it..
After using Bounce dryer sheets, I do not see any evidence of mice,
Carpet cleaner should be alright. Wouldn't hurt to spray the interior down with household disinfectant spray.

Get the "pet-stain" version of Resolve for the interior. Then hit it with a lot of Fabreeze.

There was mice in my car once before I got it..Ripped everything out and cleaned the hell out of it..Put dryer sheets in there..And I also febreeze it like once a month in the summer..

Over time you will have to replace the dryer sheets...But it's simple to do..I even put dryer sheets in the heating vents...

thanks for the replies guys. all good ideas. Man i wish I would have put some moth balls or something in it. Ill let you know what i find when i really investigate later. (its like 5 degrees right now and no heat in the garage yet)

Hamster Twin Turbo - YouTube WE BE BOOSTIN!! !! In all honesty, i wouldnt use poison, as the mouse could crawl into one of your vents, then die. And trust me, you do NOT want that smell in your vents!! Get a good ole mouse trap, that should hit home.
