id like to start by introducing myself to you dsm'ers. I am 21 and resize outside of Philadelphia (havertown). i currently have a 92 Honda accord :shhh: and am looking at getting a dsm. the car I am looking at is a 99 gst with a REBUILT title. its got 65xxx miles on it and the engine is completely stock 5speed. the price the guy is asking for is 9500 but i could get it for 8500. i was wondering how bad a rebuilt title is compared to a salvage or clear title. i am a little hesitant about buying a dsm because Ive heard from my friends that they are "unreliable". being that my car is a Honda i have high expectations towards reliability, but now i just need some performance in my life. would this car make a good daily driver as long as i kept it moderately modded (around 250 to the wheels).

i would also like to be able to put a good woopin on my friends on the streets. how much money in mods would i need to put away a cobalt ss and a rsx by a car or two (tasteful mods not no name ebay ones).

thanks and id appreciate the advise . oh yea, save your Honda flames because i really don't care , my car gets me to work every day and thats most important. now i would just like to get to work faster :sneaky:.

p.s. dont look at this as me critisizing dsm's for reliability I am just asking because of what Ive heard.

From my experience, I have not had very much luck w/ the reliability of my DSM after purchasing them. That is more my fault because, I see a car im like I WANT IT before i look around for a better quality car. When you test drive it, take it to a mechanic and have him drive it and check under the hood, run tests and look under the car at exhaust ect.

I believe a GST can currently take those stock RSXs they only put out around 200/200.

Modifying the DSM is fun. There is an abundance of information on this site. Even a step by step guide on what to do first and how to do it. Do a little searching and vuala you can have a nice car. If you have trouble finding information. Just ask, im sure somebody will either give it to you or point you into the right direction of the post that contains it.

Tip on reliability. If you hear a tick or click that wasn't there the day before. Dont wait for something to happen. Go on a scavenger hunt to find that noise.

I dont know much about the rebild title maybe somebody else can help you out there

Good luck, DSM > honda :thumb:
