I want to remove the block/head from my 2G auto without removing the tranny.

I have heard you can take the torque converter bolt off and slide the converter back on the shaft and then you can pull straight up on the motor cause it wont be attached to anything.

If this is an option, it would be easier for me I live in a apartment and don't have a garage. Plus I really don't want to leave the car on stands for a week.

Any thoughts suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pulling the axles will take a lot of time since I've never pulled them and that could turn into some major trouble from what I have read.

Will the above method work on our auto cars too?

Thanks.

the axles were pulled from mine, when my friends pulled my motor/auto trans at the sametime. and it just slide right out afterwards.

as mine sits now axles and driveshaft are sitting on a board on the ground .....

Trust me, it is MUCH, MUCH easier to just pull both at the same time. And It will also be quite a bit easier to put it back in. Otherwise, those bolts on the bottom and back of the motor will be a MAJOR pita. I tried pulling them seperately in my first gen, starting off; but quickly realised it would be a lot easier, after starting the seperate removal.

I always find it easier to pull the tranny first then the motor. Thats on a 1g but I believe a 2g is different as far as the mounts are concerend. So pulling them both may be a better option. you can just pull your axels then put the wheel assy back together and let it rest on the wheels again.

Doing that wont hurt anything? Just wanna make sure I dont cause damage to anything. Especially if it has to sit like that for a few days or so.

You can pull the motor seperate but if I had a choice to do it again the trans would come too. We had to pull the crank pulley and water pump pulleys off when we pulled it because there is almost no room to clear the flexplate. Going back together was a major pain. It was a pain to get the flexplate to line back up. Good luck either way.
