Motor problems HELP PLEASE

So I'm having problems with my talon. The turbo went to hell okay no big deal bought a small 16g to replace the stock. so i have the exhaust manifold off and i deiced it would be a good idea to do a boost leak test starting at the turbo side of the intercooler. So i get the tester all hooked up and i go to pressurize it and i get to like 2 psi and i hear this hiss. I ran my hands in front of the exhaust ports on my head and i fell air leaking out( just out of the number one cylinder. I cranked it over to what i think is top dead center and then i got the same thing out of cylinder 4. WTF is going on hear am I just missing something stupid of is something really wrong hear?

so you can't do a boost leak test with the exhaust manifold off. is that what you guys are trying to say?

If you can't why not?
