Hey guys I'm replacing a friends motor mount inserts, and i'm having trouble breaking loose the inside metal sleeve from the motor mount. Does anyone know any tricks to getting it out with a vice or anything? Thanks in advance.

I used a die grinder with a pointed carbide bit on mine. I just used the head of the bit to make a cut all the way across the collar on the inside and then I was able to break it loose with a hammer and screw driver. Only took like 10 min to do it this way.

Take the blade out of the hacksaw. Put the blade thru the motor mount in whatever direction is easiest for you to exert force on the ring and reinstall the blade into the hacksaw blade. This way it's easy to control the depth to make sure you're not cutting into the aluminum of the motor mount itself. Takes less than five minutes to cut thru it. Then take a big flatbladed screwdriver and give it a few knocks then roll it right up and take it out. Safety glasses are a must as it's easy to break a corner off the screwdriver

a reciprocating saw is probably the easiest way to get the metal sleeves out. i have a press and i couldn't even find anything that big to jig up. even if i could have i measured the diameters and all 1g mounts or any of the 2g mounts that are steel (front and back) are not even close to being round.
