OK today I finished putting together my motor and it started rite up. Needless to say i was really happy. No leaks or smoke at all "I broke it in hard I like that method".The only thing that bothers me is that at like between 4-5k I hear a loud rattling noise but its not coming from the motor"it also does it at idle so that eliminates the drivetran".The only thing I can think of is maybe i bent the dust shield between the transfer case and the tranny".If it was that would it not make a loud noise all the time instead at higher rpm's????? Also I put hks 272 cams in and the idle sucks really bad is there a fix because it wants to stall at idle or when the rpm's drop fast??? Any advice would be great, thanks Joe.... :talon: OMG

Bump the idle up to 1000 and that should take care of the stalling with those cams. It could be something as simple as a heatshield making the rattling sound.

Is the noise coming from the engine compartment? Did you replace all your timing equipment. If the tensioner was not replaced it will cause a rattle noise. Did you replace you lifter. Lifters will be noise. Do you have solid motor mounts? That will cause a lot of different rattles. If you could be more specific it would help.

Forged vavles and guides. crower springs and retainers. 3mm revised lifters. 272 hks cams. everything in the front case is new "bearings, tensioner, belts, seals, and gaskets" No solid motor mounts and i was thinking a heat shield but its kinda hard to locate by myself. In what method should I "bump up the rpms" timing or isc??? :thumb:

Congratulations on the build! I'm not an expert, but who knows maybe its something caught in your valvetrain..

It was the heat shield around the stock downpipe fixed with a 3 inch exhaust system :thumb:
