Well im going back to DSMs cause im getting board of a LS1. I need some help building up a motor from the ground up. I want to build a 4G63 6-bolt with aftermarket internals and a pretty beefy head. I want to hit the 400 - 450hp range and have the car be some what streetable. Im mainly concerned on what cams, cam gears, pistons, rods, crank, ECU, turbo and manifolds. This is not going in a 1st or 2nd gen vehicle, this is going to be a rear wheel application. any help would be great.

There are so many different variables to deal with before you go out and pump 450HP through the motor.

For instance, can you tune well or mediocre? If mediocre, you might want to stay away from a higher compression piston as they tend to knock far easier at higher boost settings. Also, if you want low end power as well, this could entail you want higher compression pistons, matched cams, a ball bearing turbo and a fine tuning management system.

I could give you a recipe for 450HP right now but your torque curve will most likely suck and you'll never get great streetability with it. "No power... no power.... no power... OH MY GOD!!!" This is how a lot of the guys do it and it's not the proper way. Sure, it's fun to drive but picking up that powerband down low is a lot of fun as well.
