so i did a head job on my car the other day and i was wondering if anybody else experiences what i do. during cold start (only after sitting over night) the car just cranks like there is no fuel. just crank and cranks. i sprayed one shot of starting fluid into the throttle body, put everything back together and it starts up.

i go through my entire day of running errands. it starts everytime perfectly no excessive cranking at all. next morning, same deal....i hit it with some starting fluid to see if it was the same problem and bam, starts right up.

no fuel problems through out the entire day. car never dies, stalls, boggs, drop idle or anything even when i drive it hard. runs like a brand new car just starts like grandpa's old Buick in the mornings. any insight

Hard cold starts are usually caused by the coolant temperature sensor. It could be not working, not connected, or the wires could be broken under the plastic tubing. Mitsu screwed up when they routed the wires the way they did, and it's very common for them to break.

If I was a betting man I would say the check valve in the fuelpump is getting weak and on a overnight sit the gas is draining out of the lines and filter so it has to fill everything in the AM before it will get up and go.
