I Besides that, cutting the roof off of the car would cause the frame to break really quickly. The first time you tried to open the doors, the whole car would fold, likely. I've seen it happen on a Sebring on a lift (post DSM). Dude opened both doors at the same time while it was in the air and it folded like a jack-knife.

No it wont. I cut the entire top off a 96 eclipse rs and stripped the body so both doors were gone. Guess what, it didnt fold. I left the windshield and about 3-4 inches above the windshield just like the spyer looks. LOL that is one of the dumbest things ive ever heard. That story is bs

^^^pictures of the cut off top??

i never had it legally on the road. it had the 420a and when I found out exactly what a 420a was I stripped all the body parts and junked it. It did run and drive and I did drive it after I cut the top off. I drove it down my street alot before i ended up junking it. It only took me like 30 min with a cutoff whell and grinder. Other guys have done it before just search this site and you will see. Folding in half ROFL ROFL

There's a difference between cutting the roof off of a car with it on the ground and with it supported by four points inboard of the tires. Convertibles get MOST of their extra strength through the doors.

No they dont. How the F^%$ does it get strength through the doors?? that doesnt make sense. You dont know what your talking about :shhh: so if they get MOST of their extra strength through the doors then why dont they fold up when they open the doors LOL

They do, if they're on a lift. :)

The owner of that said himself he had to redo his first roll cage because the frame twisted. Notice, that means the FIRST roll cage he installed didn't prevent the frame from flexing.

There's a story half way down with the same story as mine.

I got a friend with a FACTORY t-top car, a 2000 Trans Am. He bent the frame before he welded in subframe connectors. That's with only 500 hp.

Taking the roof out of a car negates the SINGLE STRONGEST PART of a unibody car.

Here's yet ANOTHER thread from yet ANOTHER forum explaining the issue.

Put up or shut up, kid. Don't just come around here talking about how it's the stupidest thing ever when you have no proof. Let's see it. Cut the roof out of YOUR car and see how well that goes down.

I read every word in your links and YOU HAVE NO PROOF OF ANYTHING!! What because some kid in some thread says his frame bent im supposed to take his word??? You say put up or shut up but IVE ALREADY CUT THE TOP OFF A 2G ECLIPSE AND DROVE IT HARD AND NOTHING HAPPENED :rolleyes:. Let me know what part of that you dont get. A set of strut bars in the front and back would help if you like taking turns fast. Your story is BS and you have yet to prove anything so you need to put or shut up.

1. You haven't posted pics of your car with the roof cut off.
2. I call you kid because you act like a kid. Act like an adult if you want that treatment.
3. You never put said car on a lift. You didn't drive it for long. If you couldn't feel the difference, you clearly aren't a good driver.
4. I'm done here. Everyone here can see that I've done my homework. You haven't.

Thxbai.

P.S. Strut bars have NOTHING to do with longitudinal rigidity.

jonjon8585 - Tone it down a bit. There's no need to resort to personal attacks. You're only proving his point when he says you're acting like a child.

EDIT: Nevermind. Banned for the butthurt PM I just received.

For the record, several guys on this site have cut the roofs off of hardtop 2G's. It DOES take away from the structrual integrity of the car, and as a result, everyone recommends that a roll cage be welded in. Many old-timers will remember Andre's "million-point" cage. If a roll cage is not added, the car will slowly fold over time. If there is no cage present and the car is seeing extreme conditions (ie: offroading), it will fold quickly.

Bottom line is that the roof does support the entire chassis, so if it is removed, you will need to add support to make up for the lack of a roof if you want the chassis to stay straight for very long.

Its fake and computer generized. The hatch is different, and even the dash is different.
