Saskatoon,
i have a 91 laser rs turbo, which a 3"turboback exhaust, and autometer boost gauge. Im just wondering if anyone could tell me of some simple mods to increase horsepower, and just general performance.

also i have a question about my turbo, i believe its a stock turbo, and is set to boost 15psi, but with the addition of the 3" exhaust it is now boosting around 18psi. other threads have said that your car should not boost over 16psi with a stock fuel system, im just wondering if its safe to be boosting 18psi?

When you accelerate hard does the boost gauge hit 15 PSI and than slowly rise to 18 or does it hit 18 PSI than settle back down to 15?

yes, it goes to 15, then as the rpm start to climb it slowly moves up, i havent gotten it to 18 psi, cause its pretty icy, but thats what the previous owner told me, but at 160 km(90-100 mph) its at roughly, 15-17 psi

i believe the word your looking for is BCS? anyways thanks alot.
also it was said that i should do maintenance to the car, but im wondering what should be done, i've replaced the timing belt, power steering line, there was a leak on the front of the engine that was fixed(old seals, or gaskets or something), also had the powersteering belt done, and its been inspected, and they said that pretty much covered it up,oh and a outter cv boot was replaced

Drain all the fluids in the car and refill, Flush the radiator, new filters, check spark plugs and wires, check all hosing, check brakes

I'm assuming neoviper was trying to decifer sp? on if you were getting boost spike, or boost creep. Boost spike would be it jumping or 'spiking' to the 18 PSI.

I'm hoping that 160 is at a track...seeing as you just said roads were icy..

You got boost creep. if you have a boost controller, turn the PSI down, if you don't get one and turn the PSI down

160 KM/H was on a freeway, that is straight strip, i more or less meant by saying the roads were too icy for insane excelleration, and thats the fastest ive gone before slowing down to 110.. are there any specific MBC that are supposed to better than others? and im on a bit of a budget

lower your boost to about 12 PSI as this is close to factory settings.

Yeah your best bet is to lower the boost and play it safe for now. The key thing to remember with turbos and boost is that you need to have supporting mods for it to operate safely. As exciting as it may be to want to mod` keep your car stock for now. Drive it stock for awhile to make sure she's running smooth before you start pushing for power, theres no point in taking 1 step forward only to take 2 steps back.

When I got my 1st DSM I was 16. Bought it with 2 broken manifold studs, and no 2nd gear syncro....Thought I was hot shit, had a pimpin' car and was fast....new almost NOTHING about DSM's...next thing i know...timing belt breaks....screws up head completely...now I got the new Laser and made sure I did maintenance right away....

If you treat your car like its your baby, it'll treat you right....Rat bag it, and we all know what happens!

also i was wondering how to install the MBC, because all the pictures look like there just a handle LOL, what do i do with it

Alrighty, 2 Things

1) I dont know if you just haven't seen it, or are not using it, or you may be using it as well, but its the Search Function

2) Although most people on the forum will go the extra mile to help a fellow DSM'er out. If it is easy enough for you to have searched in the forums, alot of people will not be as willing to help out as neoviper and myself have been.....

with that said... How To Install MBC

EDIT: neoviper beat me to it!

another quick question about the MBC, does that mean i have to buy some pipe or something to hook this up, or is this all used in the car already

haha that was me that told you about the boost controller...but anyways....it should come with new vacuum hoses and instructions on how to hook up....use the links we provided though unless they are the same.

ok to clear up what I said a little....I ment for you to use the instructions from the links we provided to you, instead of the one that comes with the boost controller...the links show the best way to hook up your MBC.
