I'm about to start my newly rebuild motor up and just remembered something. when i went to put on the head gasket (mitsu 4 layer metal) it would only go on one way onto the head studs. ok, cool i thought because i couldn't screw it up but i noticed that the gasket blocked off a hole on the block surface. is it supposed to be like that? it was a hole on the corner of the block but i dont know if it was for cooling or if it was there for nothing. anyone else ever notice this? like i said before, the gasket could only go on one wat on the head studs and every other hole matched up fine, this has just got me worried a little bit.

is it possible to put on a metal headgasket the wrong way? i could have sworn i tried it every which way but it woudn't go on but that one way. or am i wrong?

thanks for the tip. I'm just wondering if that hole is supposed to be covered up like that because everything else seemed to match up.
