mixing oils

Would it be ok to mix 10W-30 Quaker State synthetic with Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic.

NOTE: this would only be a temporary thing.

I just wanted to know if this can be done.

What are you doing it for? Future reference? While I can't give you a 100% fact, a lot of people say not to even mix oils of the same viscosity and weight (possible additive interaction, which causes oil foaming)... others say it's not a big deal in small quantities. I've done this when doing a compression wet test. Though, personally, I wouldn't mix different weights.

But hell, if I'm stranded on the side of the road and need some oil, I'd dump whatever I can in there to get home.

No worries...I was just asking that because I needed to know right then if it was ok to do. I didn't do it, but I could have had to.
