ok i have been trying to read up on it but nothing has gave me a solid answer... here is my question.... is there anyway to incorporate mivec into the 4g63 in my 2g gst without having to flip around my cams intake and exhaust? and would it be worth it? thanks :thumb:

I don't think so because other than flip the cams (wich you can't) you will need a controller (ECU) to do that. Our cars doesn't have it. Evo 9 does. so the only way I see it is if you use the a whole custom 2g car with swapped Evo 9 motor/ECU/custom driveshaft/etc.

SO I would say NO! And not worth it. just get a set of custom Cams....

Anything is possible. If you have enough MONEY. Practically speaking, no. Besides they are so new, a used one would be almost impossible to find.

And, with proper mods, you can develop more horsepower than they produce anyway, for pennies on the dollar.

My 2 cents.

ok than no mivec..... i was wondering what cams are good for my cars setup and will hold if i want to increase the hp. also my torque seems to be lacking.... call me a noob, but how do you increase your torque

Well putting bigger cams in your car will only help to kill the torque. Sorry to tell you this but if it torque you wanted than you should have bought a V8. I would recommend a HKS 264/272 combo if you really want some new cams. MIVEC would be crazy but not practical. Doesn't mean the guy who pulls it off wouldn't be a DSM god.

not necessarily. depending one the design of the cam, it may widen the torque curve. it is the high degree cams that change the power band to top end. but even so, they usually give extra mid range as well. you wont lose torque

no i dont want torque up the a$$ i was just trying to see what could i do to help my car with torque, torque isnt s bad thing to have you know. thanks for the suggestion ill be looking into them

If you are looking for a set of HKS 264/272, I have an almost new set with 20 miles on them for alot cheaper then new. Just let me know.

Edit: I think this is against the rules, so disregard this. Ill PM you.

I had an idea for MIVEC that involved the 9 head. On the 9, the cam gears are on the drivers right side as opposed to the eclipse's left. This is a pretty easy fix by spinning the head 180 degrees. This spin creates two problems, timing and studs. You're going to have to switch the intake and exhaust cams as well as cut some studs off and weld some studs on...not a big deal provided I am correct. Now that you have the head on there..how do you make it work? Mivec is hydrolic and needs oil to opperate. This oil is controled from an oil control valve and a solenoid. So, we're gonna need a feed line and a return line for oil and an OEM OCV and soleniod. So, how do we get it to turn on? Any Vtec controler will work for mivec...but what self respecting DSM driver puts anything saying vtec anywhere near their DSM? No one. So lets use a Greddy eManage with RPM harness. The eManage will hook up to the soleniod and allow Mivec tuning.

This is all just pure research and has had no execution yet. If anyone would like to test this...feel free but I am in no way responsable to damage done to pocketbook, ego, or car.
