Cambridge,
to start..

i have a 97 GST.. new 7 bolt engine still in process of breaking in the motor.. also has swapped 14b consistently at 8-9psi maximum, injen intake, greddy bov.. removed balance shafts.. retrofit 1g oil squirters.. rest of the car is stock.

problem..

i get CEL and after pullin the code it indicated misfire on cylinder #2.. so decided to move the plugs around to see if its the plugs.. also moved the wires around too.. so now the wire from 2 is in 4.. and the plug from 2 is in 1.. while cylinder 2 is runnin both wire and plug from 1..

after drivin anohter 50 miles the CEL came on once again.. again it was misfire on cylinder #2.. but at this point #2 is runnin plugs and wires from originally #1 wen the first CEL came on..

during all this time including wen the CEL is on.. there is no feelin of power loss at all.. my rough idle vibrations is likely cuz no balance shaft..

question..

wat else can it be?
would the removed balance shaft have effect?

tried to search.. but thru every search ppl recommend changing plugs and wires.. but cuz i switched things around between CEL tests and its still misfireing on 2 and not a random or 1 or 4 cyl misfire.. still think my wires and plugs are still ok.. any help or other test i need to do would be greatly appreciated..

My wife's 97GST popped that code last month. After searching I decided to change the plugs and haven't seen it since (fingers crossed.

just not sure if plugs and wires would solve this.. cuz it continues to be on cyl 2 even tho i have switched the wires and plugs over from one another everytime..

Might as well try, worse thing is it is something worse, then you can work from there. Hope for the best, you own a dsm after all! :thumb:
