Misfiring, What do you guys think?

Hey guys,
So like my title says, once in a while my CEL would go on for FIRST CYLINDER MISFIRE...then about a week or two later it would turn off. The spark plugs are about a month old....when i took the spark plug out of 1st cylinder i see carbon black build up on the tip, so i take a flash light to the cylinder hole and there is kinda, how do i describe it, like oil build up on top of my piston head...then i check the other other cylinder and spark plugs and they are dry/clean as a whistle......my other friends took a look at it and they said it might be the piston rings are gone in first cylinder..............WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? I would do a compression test to see if that cylinder has low compression. As far as the misfiring a fouled plug could do that. Compression Test

If you verify that compression is strong, you may want to look at other possible culprits such as the spark plug tube seals, or even perhaps a faulty coil pack or injector. If your compression is decidedly weaker than the other three, try a wet test and see if it brings the compression up in that cylinder. Then you can determine if it's rings or valve seals.

I'll do a compression test ASAP........On the other hand I found another problem with the car.. when ever i would drive it hard and let it cool down for about 30min-1hr after the hard runs the car never seems to start i have to keep tryin to start it then it turnsover like 5min later, wats up wit that?

My gsx has started to do something similar to what you're describing. I have never gotten any missfiring, but about 2-3% of the time i try to start my car, there is NO spark whatsoever. If i wait a few minutes and then try again, it will usually start up.

One thing i have noticed, is that after sitting overnight, it will always start up in the morning without hesitation. It refuses to start when i walk in to grab food, grocery store for 15min, etc etc .. and then try to start it up again.

Anyone have any thoughts for us?
