I am finally getting around to fixing all the "little" things in my GSX that are bugging me. Im not sure if it's something the previous owner did, or if something is broken, but there's a problem with an electrical circuit in my car.

When I open my driver's door, the dome lights dont come on, the light around the ring of the key doesn't light up, and the bell does not ding, and the open door indicator light doesn't show on the guage panel.

Now I know alot of people will stop the bell from dinging because its annoying. But it also reminds me to turn my HEADLIGHTS OFF!! I have had one instance when I forgot and came back to a dead battery. So I have decided to fix it.

Is there a fuse that could have been pulled that controls all these things? I looked at the fuse panel under the dash and didnt see one indicating it controlled this circuit.

The passenger door causes all these things to work...its just the drivers side.

I took a screw driver and pulled out the switch that the door triggers when it opens and closes...but the wires are connected to it. (I figured he cut them, but he didn't).

Also, if I am out cleaning the car, and I leave the doors open while I clean it vaccuum it etc....the battery dies. I would say within 1-2 hours. My black GS surely didnt' do that.

volt meter and check all the fuses.
If youre basically trying to get the car back into stock form in terms of little electric things, I would recommend doing this.

Take a volt -meter and check every possible fuse.
I dont think youll have to even take them out honestly, but its worth diong it.

hmm unless youre blasting music on your battery shouldnt drain that fast. Either something is on thats constantly drawing power.(Is there an aftermarket system in your car?) or your battery is bad.

Sounds to me like they disconnected that door switch. it is located in your door jamb near the bottom rear corner of your door. Good luck!:thumb:

So is there a clip inside that hooks up? I didnt notice anything like that when I had it tore out to put in the sat. radio equipment. I took out the door jam and the carpet there and didn't notice a clip on the inside. I unscrewed the door switch and pulled it out, and there are still 2 wires attached to the back of it, and they wont pull out very far...so they are still hooked up.

The battery doesn't drain during the day normally. I have been daily driving it. If its parked with the door closed there is no drain. Yes there's an aftermarket system in that I put in. And yes it's done correctly. I ran the exact same system in my GS for 5 years. Factory harness is used, no cutting and splicing.

You could go ahead and test that switch. That switch was going bad in my old ESi. my bell wouldnt turn on right away when I opened my door, but about a minute later it would all of a sudden come on.

Yeah, seeing as everything works well with the passenger door, its got to be triggered by that little switch. It must be damaged in some way. I will check it out and test it. Thanx!
