so after talking to a couple of friends that are in to dsm's that are local i was told that one of them have a MHI 18g and im just wondering on top of changing normal things like dump housing, exhaust man., fmic&piping my question is what else like injector size? things like that
 
It depends how much you want out of it. If you plan on staying stock boost, or even 10 -12 lbs, then 450cc are fine.
 
The 18g will bolt right into your 1st gen, Just like a 16g or E316g would. Like Stated above depending on what PSI you want to run you may have to change a lot or nothing..
 
because the housing is tdo5 i have to change the exhaust man. and the o2 housing because i have a tdo4 housing 13b turbo im pretty sure nothing is the same right? would a 550cc injector be a good place to start since 450cc would be the min.
 
Manifold, housing and all that is the same, its just smaller It wont flow enough and you may get some boost creep and stuff. I'd at least upgrade to ported 2g manifold and 02 housing, or Evo3 ones. And from there you'll need bigger DP and exhaust.

390cc if he's auto, which he is if he has a 13g stock. Good idea would be to check if you have an EPROM ecu, if you don't upgrading to a 5 speed EPROM ecu would be a good start if you wanted to get 550's. You won't have to lean out the SAFC as much.
 
Yeah if you have the 13g turbo and manifold. I'm assuming that the 18g already has a 7cm turbine housing, you will need to pick up a 1g(5spd) or 2g manifold and port the collector to match the 7cm housing. An Evo3 manifold is already 7cm and requires no porting. If the outlet on the turbine housing is 2" like a big16g, then your current O2 housing will work fine. If its 2.5" exit like a e316g, then you can port your current one out as well as a 2g housing, or pick up an Evo3 O2 housing, which is already 2.5", but requires slight downpipe modification.
You could also obviously get an aftermarket tubular O2 housing or like an FP manifold.
All of the banjo bolts ON the 13g turbo are smaller than what a tdo5h turbo(14b,16,18g) will require, so if you buy the turbo from the guy, try and get all the oil and water line as well.

:cool: that was my first upgrade a brand new eprom ecu chipped&socketed and im gonna just spend the 600 bucks on the dsmlink v3 and get it out of the way before buying a safc for $200 $300 bucks and then buying dsmlink later

usual goals :Dhigh hp daily driver thats why im trying to make sure i buy quality parts so i can still have a dd but be able to drive it right on to the track then back off again in 1 piece

yea its a very good price makes it hard to pass up...but what would you buy?

What I would pick would really depend on my goals at the time.
So, how much are you getting it for?
I ran a tdo5h 18g, and it was a fun street turbo, really shines after 20psi. Pretty similar to a big16g, too.
 
How many miles are on it? That isn't bad, but I'd go with a different turbo. And a high hp DD isn't what I meant, I meant are you going to be doing drag, autox, time attack etc.. And your not going to be getting very high HP out of this turbo without pushing it and putting a pretty penny into some motor mods. Tell us your HP goal and we can give you an idea on a turbo. Like the forum says, don't try to build a 10 second car when you haven't even gone 12's yet.

I'm not the only one who's noticed! haha I thought I was doing something wrong.

I run 650 injectors, external dump 38mm Tial off the o2 housing, since my I bought my 18g with the wastegate flapper cut off.

I'm currently on 26psi and am just about maxing the injectors out... After about 6months of running on 20+psi I popped the HG with stock headstuds.
