Has anyone ever thought or attempted to create some type of metal door handles or door handle parts that would effectively prevent the door handles from breaking??

How do you break your handles twice?

Someone did make an aluminum replacement door handle but there was a problem and the guy that made them couldn't make enough to fill all the orders or something. I don't think they are available anymore.

Oh, well I wrench on my handles when they're frozen, it feels like I'm gonna break em, but I don't.

He never went into regular production with the metal handles. They have not been available for several years. His website has been down for some time too.

Here is a PM from Jason that I received a while ago about the metal door handles.

I am currently in the process of selling the casting plate and rights to the product to disturbing motorsports. they will have the info available once the deal is finalized. not exactly sure how long its going to take, but probably a couple of weeks. as for my website the company who hosted it changed my plan and upped my prices a good amount so I opted to close the site for the time being until I find a company to host it.

that picture that you guys posted up didnt look too bad of some metal ones. i was just wondering what everyone thought about them because im gonna see if i can get my dad to CNC grind me a pair...i was thinking about having him grind the housing for the handle too. do you guys think that would aid in not being able to break the handle also??

Its the handle part that breaks so the other part isn't necessary, but it might look good?

What a shame if that parts are no longer available. I purchased a set of the door "plates" from the afore-mentioned guy to fix my handles several years ago and have not had any issues since. And it was actually a simple, easy to perform task.

It wasn't the handle that broke, rather the pivot part behind the handle. Over time it just gets fatigued and breaks.

yeah i was thinking it might look good too so it flows right instead of having a metal handle and then a silver casing around it just have both metal. ill see what i can come up with i just need to get the handle off and give it to my dad so he can take a look at it and start grinding away... maybe i could start selling these if it all works out well??????

I purchased the door handle kit with the metal plates from AZDave, if I remember his name correctly. Installation was a pain, but the handles are VERY secure. 2G Eclipse, 2G Talon, Avenger, Sebring Door Handle Repair Kit

As for Jason Lee, he was in the process of making those handles the last time I sent him a PM but IIRC he said he wanted $115 for those metal handle inserts.

When they were originaly sold they came polished or primered so you could paint it and it would look like a regular handle.

We now own the rights to the handles as well as the casting plates - we currently have a few sets in stock, however they are unfinished.

I will sell them unfinished for a bit cheaper, if you would like them that way - or else I will have some sets finished after the holidays. I would estimate a week or two.

so wait does this Jason guy still sell them?? actually i wouldnt mind paying 70 for a pair of primered ones because i believe thats how much they cost at the stealership and these are metal correct?? that sounds like sortof a deal worth buying to me but....i guess if my dad could make them himself with scrap metal left around his shop for about no cost and then have them primered and painted that would be a ton cheaper...

Seventy a pair is a damned bargain, but they're overkill. Dave's repair kit -which I always nominate as the single most valuable after-market DSM part- is more than enough for you. However, there will be some reading of directions required, and there is evidence that may be beyond your capabilities.

Non-OEM replacement handles are also out there, of varying price and quality levels. Google.

shit man you dont have to hate on me just because i was trying to get things straight...like really pointless in my mind just because im a new owner for eclipse doesnt mean i dont know about other types of cars and throwing parts on them...which sometimes may need the requirements of directions
and now i know that forsure 70 for a pair is a deal you might as well just close the thread moderator...
