Metal clip on fuel pump filter

Hey guys, today I installed my walbro 255hp. There is a metal clip on the stock fuel pump which holds the filter in place. When I installed my walbro, I forgot to install the clip on the new filter. But the filter seems to be in place and sturdy because of the rubber grommet which goes in between the bottom of the fuel pump and the assembly. Will someone here let me know if I have to redo the whole pump install or if it will be okay like this. Thank you guys, here is a link to the install on good old vfaq. Also, how much play up and down is the fuel pump allowed to have in the assembly?

You could leave it like that but if your car goes over any bump or vibrates enough to loosen it, prepare for more dirt in your fuel system especially if you go to cheap gas stations. Also there should be no play whatsoever. The bracket should fit snug over the fuel pump. Do a pull test. If you can pull your fuel pump out with slight tension, it isn't tight enough.

Cool, I will try to take it out again before I start the car up tomorrow. It would really suck if it came out
