I took my fuel filter off my car because i am going to paint my engine bay and the flare nut that you UN-tighten on bottom of the filter got kinked. :ohdamn:. I tried UN-kinking it and it broke off. :banghead:. So now i either got to flare it with a new nut or replace the whole line? I don't know what is the best thing to do in this situation. Any help is great. Thanks

I am going to be running a 2.3 with 1250 injectors on pump gas.I can post pictures also.

I'm getting that tank to rail kit from STM also and it comes with a filter and AN fittings all the way to the rail.

Ok i will get on STM and look i have seen them before. Also is it a better choice to do STM tank to rail kit or fix the line i broke? I cant even find the line fitting that goes in the stock filter? Also witch will work better for an option?

If i have to i will buy the STM kit.

To fix the hard line you will need to re-flare the line which is ok ( if you get it perfect). Flaring lines isnt the easiest thing to do, and the location it is in means you will have to remove the line completely.

I love my STM kit, its the whole assembly. Adapter for the fuel rail, new filter, all hose and fittings. The only downside is STM tends to take a while to ship them out. My tank to rail kit took more than a week and my return kit is now two weeks without any shipment.

I am getting ready to move mine to -6 as well. I can measure my piece of line to give you a measurement of how much you will need. Then you can buy an fittings and source all the parts your self.

If you need a fast fix you can cut a sectoon off a salvage car and cut your line and install a compression union. Do NOT use some cheap brass union from home depot. You'll need a steel fitting from a hydraulic shop etc. I had my 1g like this for ten years.

Ok cool thanks for all the info. Is it hard to take the whole line out and put the new one from STM? I want to do this right the first time also think the STM kit is my best choice. If i did it with unions and flaring in that location i might end up messing it up more. And to do it right i would need to remove the whole line. witch i don't want to do so i might as well upgrade my line instead of breaking it again trying to fix it right?

I would like your input on this please. Thanks for all the help.

Installing the hose and filter wouldn't be very difficult. The nylon ProClassic hose and fittings are insanely easy to work with compared to traditional braided steel stuff. If you've never assembled braided hose then I'd still look up a how-to and try it once before installing it.

Just to play Devil's Advocate, the downside (in your case) is the price. The kit will set you back over $230. Some fuel line and a compression fittings would set you back maybe $20-30. There's tons of how-to's online for this as well.

yea the kit will set me back. And yea steal braided line isn't to fun to assemble. That's why i would buy the kit also. But I looked up some how-to's and didn't find anything. I would like to try compression fittings before i buy a STM kit if i mess the fuel line up more and dont fix it.

Regular braided hose is still easier than solid fuel line IMO. And the ProClassic stuff that STM uses for their kits is even easier. Here's a how-to from a DSM channel on youtube.

Basic AN Hose Tech - making AN hoses - YouTube

Either way will work, just be sure to do it right. :thumb:

Oh yea I have watched that video from Jefro. A good video. I didn't have a computer before i seen this and i wasn't a member yet either. But i did learn from my mistakes. I will do it the easier way now.

But i am going to try a compression fitting with a new line to make up what i lost and also a new flare nut and if that dont fix it or makes it worse i am going to buy the STM kit. Think a compresson fitting will fix it or am i better off getting a new kit from STM?

Yes i tryed fixing my probem only to make it worse. Now i have another kink in my line and i think i am just going to replace the whole line. I have been looking at -8 an tank to rail kit from STM? I have also been doing some reading for awhile now on the mod and how you need to weld AN fittings to the fuel sending unit. I am wondering what An fittings i would need for this if anyone has did this before? Thanks

I gave you a solution. Get a piece of line from a salvage car. You'll probably only need 3 or 4 inches or wherever it's convenient to cut and put a steel union in place. The union will likely be about 10 bucks. Make sure whatever car you take this from doesn't already have a bad fitting. 10 minutes with a wrench and a tube cutter and the repair is done. Like I said I had mine this way for more than 10 years.

Like Paul has mentioned, a steel union and the right chunk of stock line would do the trick. The stock fuel lines are more than enough for pump gas and 1250cc injectors. I'm running E85 and 1150's with the stock lines from the filter-tank and 6an hose from filter-rail.

But if you do decided you want to replace all the fuel lines with STM's tank-rail kit, keep in mind that you don't have to modify the pump hangar with the 6an kit, only the 8an kit (which is serious overkill in your case).
