I was tightening my new setup to the exhaust manifold and messed up the threads on all of turbo bolts and 2 of the threads in the turbo housing. Now can't put a bolt through the broken threads and can't put the turbo back with only 2 bolts. what are my options? I am not sure of the size of the tap. If i had a tap the right size, i could have probably retapped it properly.

I could use my dremel and port the messed up threads out of the housing; leaving just the good ones in there. This would let me screw the bolts in but not as tight as it should go. Although i think this will work, i am still entertaining other ideas.

I don't want to get a new hotside housing for a 50 trim turbo because i am not sure which one will fit. Intake size is .60, exhaust i am not sure. But it is a 2inch exducer wheel that opens up to a 2.5 opening - it is a mitsubishi style housing. It was formerly called an ete32 turbo. Hits full boost right at 3700rpm. It came with the "big" flapper (39mm i think...I could be wrong on this one, but it was definately bigge then 34mm)

Please help.

Personally I would drill out the old messed up threads, retap larger, redrill the clearance holes for the larger bolts, and replace the bolts. That way you have all new threads for a good hold. You can re-chase the thread but they wont be as good as if you had all new threads.

Then you have to drill out the manifold too and try and find new bolts of that grade and pitch which isn't to easy. I have retapped many times with no problems.

Thats the thing, i am not sure as to what grade and size bolts i could find at my local hardware store. i am certain that this will be difficult to do. Unless you can tell me which exact bolts would fit the bill, along with an exact tap, we could be on to something.

This is most likely a last case scenario. Anyone with bolt/tap recommendations?

M10x1.25 Tap will fix it.
Where could i find this tap? home depo, lowe's, ace hardware? any ideas before i go looking?

You can get tread repair kits here www.mcmaster.com
I got replacement bolts here www.boltdepot.com they have every kind of bolt you will ever need.
This site has Titanium bolts is you so desire. www.racebolts.com

What material did you use? At first I used the 8.8 Grade and it got stretch. Later, I decided to use 10.9 grade but they can't stand the HEAT and still leak.

What should I try? Titanium? the Website you posted doesn't have the size I am looking for (M10x1.50) :(

BTW, Anyone know if I can Re-tap from M10x1.50 to M10x1.25. currently I have a screw lock helical insert.
TIA.

I had this problem with my last install, one bolt screwed up and I had to go buy my first tap and dye set. Like stated before it's M10x1.25 and you can find the grade 8.8 bolts at HomeDepot, so far they work fine for me.

Just one or 4 of them? If it is one well I see why it hold. But to be honest the grade 8.8 is too weak specially with heat. Since you have the right thread you should buy the right bolt for the job. trust me on this one.

The factory bolts are grade 11. Your typical hardware store bolts are no good for anything going into the turbine housing. I've had one fail going into the turbo which required a trip to the machine shop to get the threads drilled and fixed because the bolt seized and snapped. My friend snapped several bolts in his O2-Turbo connection, even with copper anti-seize.
