Ive got some tiny scratches & swirling ive been battling with only moderate success and I've decided its time to get serious on these things. Got some Ultimate Compound and a cheap 6" orbital polisher.

I've been doing some research and it seems lots of folks are getting good results with this stuff by hand, even better than by machine. Anyone tried this stuff yet? By hand or machine? What kind of applicator? Towels? Any tips? Like your results? Details on your method please, spare none!

I've been using meguiars products for 25 years now. At one time you could only buy the stuff in paint shops and it came in non descript bottles with just a number on it. That same product is still out there but it's a little more common. For years I've used #9 swirl remover, &7 show car glaze and #26 wax in paste form. I've done them by machine, particularly the #9 but I prefer by hand. I used a cloth diaper in the past and use no fabric softener when washed but now I use microfiber towels. It's labor intensive but it's smooth and blemish free. Most cars I need nothing more than #7 and wax.

I've used quite a bit of it. Excellent product. Once a year, I wash, claybar, hose off, compound, polish, and wax. Then after that first time, I wash once a week and wax every two weeks. Paint looks comparable to a portion that was just freshly painted. I do it all by hand. I'd probably benefit from a orbital LOL.

I just picked up some last week but have not have a chance to use it yet. I plan on using it with my Porter Cable 7424 and CCS pads.

I bought some but I haven't applied any since my DSM needs a paint job. Im really excited to see how it comes out. I've always loved how Meguiar's products have made my previous vehicles look. Even my motorcycle. 3 step process does it right, especially with some clay bar thrown in there.

Well, if I had the strength left in either thumb to raise it, Id have to give this stuff a thumbs up. My cheap orbital turned out to be exactly that - and useless. So I polished the whole car by hand. It took three hours. That was two days ago and I'm still sore. WTF

BUT it was worth it. I'd say 75-100% of my swirl marks are completely gone and what's left is VERY difficult to see. Scratches aren't gone, but are much less noticeable. Biggest improvement was definitely the front bumper, which finally has a crisp shine, along with finally getting the clarity in the shine/reflection I've been trying to get as I'm holding on to my clearcoat for dear life. I can't get it painted until much later this year so this was a real treat. :thumb:

However I will never again attempt the whole car in one day by hand. Probably best left for a three day weekend at home kind of project. Front bumper and hood were given 3-5 passes and the rest one or two depending. I'd like probably two more passes on the roof once I recover. :p

I can't get a good outdoor picture to save my life lately. They all look washed out, but I think you get the picture.
