So Im thinking if buying this MegaSquirt Version 1 processor, 3.0 Board, 3 Bar map. I really dont know about MS but is this good. im planing on putting 450cc if i was to get this would i still have to buy a SFMU?

any info on this will help:confused:

You will need a 1:1.

Right. Turbizmo, you got your acronyms wrong, you want an "AFPR" not an "S-FMU."

Megasquirt-I is good... solid and reliable. MS-II is really the latest and the greatest. It's got more features, it's quicker and it's been out long enough to have proven itself. Besides, with MS-III on the way, support for a system that's two generations behind will be harder to come by.

So should i wait or should i go for it its pretty cheap its for 250 shipped

Personally, I would buy a MS-II unit, though MS-I will get the job done. I assume you've found a used ECU, yes? If so, be sure it's in good working order, and be sure that it's set up for the 420A... most ECU's are not.

If it's currently configured for a 4G63, then you'll have to either have the ECU modified or modify it yourself.

He told me he had it for his 420a. so would i still have to modify my ECU he also told me the MS he has i have to splice and join some wires before the clip of the ECU? here are some pictures...

I couldn't really tell you without clear pictures of the inside of the ECU (bottom and top sides of the circuit board). The first picture is a relay board, which is unnecessary for the 420A... we already have all the necessary relays.

this is what the person told me when i told him what VELOCITAPAOLA told me. on post 10. He said,

"Uhhh I dunno where u heard that info but the circut board with the relays is the fuses and such for the main board which is the silver piece, you need everything i have to make it work..

The board with relays is where the injectors are wired and where the spark wires in..

Do u still want the invoice or what??"

Having the relay board won't necessarily hurt anything, but it's really not necessary. You're just adding another stage of wiring. The 420A already has an ASD relay and fuel pump relay, and most all of the required fuses. Most Megasquirt users just use the stock relays and fuses. The relay board was designed for older, carbureted cars that didn't have these things.

i got more pics of the MS

Well, it's not set up for a 420A, that's for sure. It's currently configured to accept the signal from a VR sensor and output spark to two external ignitors. It will work, but it's old technology and you will need to get the ECU re-configured, or do it yourself.

So do you think its better to wait or what?

Please pay a little more attention to your grammar and spelling. We tolerate poor grammar/spelling less in the advanced technical forums.

Whether or not you buy this Megasquirt ECU is up to you. How comfortable do you feel modifying it yourself? If you're not that comfortable doing it, are you prepared to pay to have it modified? Personally, I would purchase a new ECU that's already set up for the 420A, but there are more than one paths to the same goal...

sorry VelocitàPaola just one more question. From your own perspective do you think its hard to re-configured my ecu?

From my perspective? No, it's not difficult... but I'm familiar with electronics and soldering. I can see it being confusing for someone who has never dealt with these things before.
