So I purchased a Megan racing shifter for my 2g, it's a very simplistic thing to make and one would believe not much room for error. We'll the bearing inside is complete garage and the shifter is in a million pieces and I'm tired of rigging it up to make it work. So I call and say I need a bearing. Guy says its gotta come from the moon and it won't be here for two months. Then I say I want him to send me a new shifter cause I getting sick and tired of dealing with this paper weight. He says that I need a receipt and that it must be with in the last 365 days. I was like bro when u go to the dealership and buy a car how many times do you replace the shifter while you own the car. None ! Exactly my point. I own yours for two years and its garage now. He then says in a sassy ### voice," some people man handle their shifters and break them" so lesson learned dtreat ## shifter like its a plastic girl toy. And I'll never buy from Megan racing again.

Any other good shifters out their? And I haven't heard anything exciting about b&m plus I believe their discontinued. Any ideas I don't want to replace this thing again

The best shifter is going to be the B&M. Second best IMHO would be to get your factory one shortened. I've owned both, so my opinions aren't pull out of thin air.

Im gonna cut the stock one. No more messing around. Now based on my measurements the megan shifter is 1 1/8 inches shorter for the handle. Im thinking a little shorter would be nicer, even with it an 1 1/8th shorter it still felt to high up. And then for the throw they have a stock location and then one 1/2 inch up with actually shortens the throw, not the height. What are you guys expeirences with how much to take off??? and are you just shortening the handle and keeping stock throw or changing both?

- Thanks William

I'm not sure why you assumed they would warranty this and replace it for you after 2 years of use? For all they know you could have installed it and never drove the car...or you could have installed it wrong/half-assed and slammed into gears left and right all day long. The biggest problem with their customer service on this is not being able to please a customer that just doesn't understand.

I liked my B&M until the double threaded bolt or "rod" with threads on both sides, that went through the shifter snapped. I had a friend machine a new one and he threw it away like I douche because he was on his period or something. I bring it to a machine shop and they lost the original.

Talk about a pain in the ass.

Also, I hate the OEM shifter chopped. It doesn't even compare to the smoothness of the B&M.

B&M I had one on a previous car. I have a Megan on my current car over a year now and no problems at all.

Not trying to be a dick but you should really have never expected them to send you a new one after 2 years. Its a brand that has come up from selling parts on Ebay. I realize they have put out some better stuff lately but still not a top quality brand.

It goes like this:

B&M (no longer made)
MeganRacing, current
MiragePower, current
Or put on your big girl panties and mod a POS to be 10x better than even the B&M :D.

I bought the Mirage to see how bad it really was and how workable it is for the *cough* cheap *cough* dsmers'. It's okay, the double threaded bolt is the weak point like mentioned though. But Megan and Mirage are the same shifter, Mirage cheaper. As intended, I ended up beefing up every shifting aspect of the car with various bushings and needle roller thrust washers(Not shown BTW). Along with some other fancy stuff. I'd rather build, not bolt on :D.

Well, thats not the case here. After being part owner of a speed shop for several years, respectable companies either take care of you no questions asks or compromise, ex. Sending you the replacement part for free, or wholesale cost or what not. Us people on tuners work real hard for or money I don't like being ripped off by companies with high profit margins, and I don't like replacing parts that are suppose to be a one time buy. Thats like giving my money to someone else for nothing. And any good company knows that their company and employees would not even exist if their customers did not exist. Customer loyalty is where business is at and any good company will go the extra mile to earn that loyalty. At the bare mininal he could of offered to send me the needle bearing at cost, trying to compromise and help my situation. I hope your not the ceo of megan racing.
