Almost done with my build and am hoping for around 500whp area, is the meagan downpipe not a good choice? i bought the dp on ebay for around 120$ and it looks pretty good...Is it worth upgrading to say a buscher unit? Thanks guys...

No you just have to remove the neck down area where it is supposed to mate to the rear section.

Like ZmanIV said just remove the section at the end that reduces down. Once you remove that neckdown section it will flow just as well as the units that come that way to begin with.

What are you guys talking about? There is no neck down section. A 3 inch pipe is a 3inch pipe. Theres not much better you can do. You will be fine.

A megan DP necks down to ~2.5" at the exit flange, otherwise it is 3". Listen to Zman, Cs and my self, cut the neck down section by the exit flange, buy a 3" flange and weld it the DP.

I ordered the pipe for my tsi awd from undergroundmotorsports (drop ships direct from MR), and it is 3 inches ALL THE WAY, no neck down at all. As a result it WILL NOT bolt up to stock exhaust, its too big and just about swallows the stock exhaust LOL. Made me mad, i spent 45min getting the old down pipe off(dang rusted nuts) and just ended up having to put it back on. Anyway i said forget it and just ordered the n1 kockoff from the japanimport guy and it should be here saturday so i will just put it all on at once. So basically if you have gotten a pipe recently for the gsx/tsi awd and its the v2 one it probably will not neck down. I am not sure if the gst/tsi's downpipes still neck down or not though.

Ya, I dont know where you guys got yours, but mine did not neck down to 2.5in. MIne was full 3 , it wasnt to hard to get on, I ended up denting in the sides just a little(not enough to cause restriction) and I ended up getting it on with no problems.

yea mine does neck down, do i just go to a muffler shop and chop it off? i dont plan on driving this car on the streets.. thanks guys im going to stick with this dp..

You can go to a muffler, shop. I actually recommend going and while they do that, have them custom make the rest of your exhaust. Cheapest way to go.

This is going to be the cheapest way to go. Since you are making the effort to get rid of the neckdown make sure that the exhaust shop has mandrel bends for the rest of your exhaust.

Thats the exact one I got, and it's great. I say go for it, it is actually cheaper then when I got mine.

I paid $110 + $25 shipping for my mr downpipe(got a strut bar also, but they were able to just put it in the same box) from undergroundmotorsports.com. Talked to the guy personally, seems like a good guy. Only downside is i never got any tracking info, it just showed up one day.

IF you are going to have an exhaust shop do it, they are going to have to put in a cat, since the MR DP deletes it. Also, I have had a tough time trying to find a shop with a mandrel bender.

Why have them put a cat in? If he lives in an area where he isn't subjected to inspections, I say leave it off.

I know that. I didn't recommend he put one on. If his DP is replacing his cat, I say leave it off and not have a replacement put on unless you're one of those unfortunate people that has an inspection at some point in time.
