me buying a DSM, input?

I’m planning on getting a 1st gen 90-92 Talon TSI AWD. I’ve got $5,500 and the car should only run me about around $3,000. I’m planning on using the extra money to give the engine a good tune up including

Top line gasket kit - $159
OEM 4 layer metal - $99
Water pump - $69
2g exhaust manifold - $180
Balance shaft removal kit - $42
Timing belt + adjuster - $147
ARP head studs - $110
A/C, Power steering and Alternator belt if applicable

Along with this ill be getting the head inspected and machined if needed. This is everything I can think of to bring the engine back to almost factory conditions or better so I can mod in the future and not be worried about damaging my engine. I’m planning on 300whp in the near future with more after that, if theres anything I haven’t thought of please tell me. I know I could put in forged rods and pistons etc but this is basic stuff to get the engine healthy because I know stock 4g63’s can handle quite a bit. Unfortunately, even after quite a bit of engine work this doesn’t help the transmission at all which is what ive heard DSM’s have a lot of problems with.

How mny miles is on it. If not many then why bother with a HG. If 25+psi is in youe furture just wait til it blows. The only thing you should replace is the t-belt and water pump. 300 is really nothing on these engines if tuned right

if im going to do the work to take the engine out though i might as well get the things changed out. Also, since im getting it used and i don't know when the last guy changed what, i'd like to start fresh so to speak, so that i know when everything was last serviced.
