MBC pressure source, is there a difference?

Shiloh,
I installed my MBC controller a while back (Joe P XZ) and I was just doing some reading, and I was wondering about something. I know I have it installed correctly (I can change boost settings just fine) but my pressure source is different than what most people hook it up to. Most people T into the BOV line and run the other to the WG actuator nipple. I am using the nipple off of the Lower IC pipe (the one about 3 inches off of the compressor housing) and then going into the WG actuator. I read that doing so could be slowing down boost response. Is this true? or is this just a myth?

IMO, the way you have it is better than tee'd into the BOV line. You'll notice than many turbos these days come with a vac. nipple allready mounted on the compressor cover; which is basically close the same thing you have. I always had mine tee'd off the BOV line, and I never thought twice about it. Then I was involved in a discussion about pressure drop and wastegate pressure source in general. It got me wondering if there was a difference in where I got my pressure from. So, I drilled and tapped my compressor housing for a vac. nipple and I've been running it from there ever since.

The things I've noticed:

My BOV is now faster and more accurate because it no longer is sharing it's pressure source. I'm venting to atmosphere, so my BOV is very loud, and after doing this it totally changed the discharge sound..... I honestly didn't really notice any affect it made on the wastegate itself. I really just like having a 10" vac. hose there instead of the 30" one I used to have.

The way you have it is what I would consider the 'better way'. What you heard is misinformation; not a myth.
