My 92 plymouth laser awd started leaking some brake fluid about a week ago but i diidnt find out until a couple days later because i thought there was just some melted snow under neath my car or something like that. I never noticed anything different with my brakes but today I noticed a big puddle of brake fluid right behind the front drivers side tire. Its dark so I cant see exactly where its leaking from but the reservoir is completley empty. Is this a common problem? I tried searching and didn't find much or could it just be a hose? Thanks

Flashlight man. Your the only one who will be able to find where its coming from. (unless you take it to a shop)

Pour some fluid in there and have someone pump the peddle.

If it's on the inside of a tire it's the hose. If it's by the firewall then it could be the master cylinder.

If you are that unsure, take it to a professional and get an estimate from him. It could save you money and even your life. If you are adept, pull the wheel, put some fluid in the master cylinder and have someone push the brake pedal. See if you can locate the fresh spray of fluid coming out.

Every morning there would be a puddle behind my front tire. I finally figured out it was my master brake cylinder leaking fluid along the brake lines onto the floor. Change it asap if that's the problem! I found out the hard way when my brakes pretty much went out completely after I ignored it for a long time, topping it off once and a while.

So, how many people have actually had to replace a brake master due to leaking... or are they prone to leaking because of other things like fittings leaking? If that's the case it's easy to fix as opposed to paying for a new brake master (they're expensive).
