This all began about 2 weeks ago and has progressively been getting more frequent and worse, and occurs after the car warms up. I have an error code 22(cam angle sensor). My car misfires and backfires and while this is occuring, my tach is going crazy. If this happens while im at highway speed and it leads to a engine stall, I will have no signal at the tach even though the engine is still rotating and all other electrical systems are operational. Also, if I try to start the car immediatly after this happens, the engine will crank but the rpms will stay at zero and it wont start.
I am thinking that this is my CAS on its way out. But some people have said that this could be a ISC. I replaced my caps on my ECU about 2 years ago as a preventative measure(ie: no clicking or leaking yet). I also replaced the coil packs about a year ago.
1. If the CAS is bad, will that give a faulty(crazy bouncing around) rpm signal even though the rpm signal is produced at the coil?
2. If I need a new CAS, i would rather get a new one, or reconditioned one as opposed to used. Where can I find one for cheap?
thanks guys
