Just after everyone at the meet tries to talk me out of my 420a,

Someone I know is selling a 91' talon TSI (not sure of drivetrain) due to financial issues. Maybe this one'll work out ;D

Chris.

She was cool I gave her crap for the SRT4 she drove and still gave us free beer. Props to the EVO GIRL

We weren't tring to talk you out of the 420A just into a 4g63t.:thumb:

Oh I see. ;D
We'll see how this goes. It might be a little tricky because his g/f is trying to push the car for him and she's like 'practically new interior!' and the pics show dirty stock cloth that looks dyed, LOL!
The paintjob... well, the orangepeel-rustjob needs fixing but the engine looks alright. It's time to bring out the compression gauge and socket set.

Just as a checklist, (I know I'll miss a couple) I should:

Compression test
Check Fluids
Make sure it runs
Test drive it
Recheck Fluids
Check turbo for shaft play
Ask about all mods done to vehicle
Overall 'inspection' of interior wiring / under-chassis

Anything else someone might suggest?

Honestly, it's always gonna be a gamble with these cars. Things that I look out for when buying one are swapped motors ,different shaded body panels, and oil pressure/temps. if these all good good and the car drives straight, then you can't ask for much more.

I missed free beer!!!!

Don't forget the car is 16 years old I would fuss over a messy interior. Check for oil leaks and make sure the brakes work. Run a carfax report, check the underside for excessive rust. See how the car shifts and maybe invite another DSMer who owns a 1g to help.

Yo if the car is close to my work see if the guy would let you bring it by and i can look it over remember im an MD inspector i may have to charge ya like a half labor to look at it but see if the guy will pay it

When are you guy's going to be doing this again?????

When we're sure that people don't fake on us ;)
Kidding, But I'm up for weekend meets anytime. I just want to try and get a decent turnout. I think alot of people are still working on their DSM's seeing that winter is just starting to leave. Maybe once it gets warmer and people finish their winter projects we can arrange an awesome meet.

Chris.

Yep, car has been down for a year. I was so happy just to drive it around the block the other day. :thumb:

Maybe I won't get that particular TSi awd ;X.
Seller asking $3300 firm or better.
Car= cracked winshield, said to be running but uninsured/dead tags, FR axle boot damaged, rusted out paint, rear tires = bad condition. Nasty idle surge from sellers explanation and mods are A-pillar, 3-gauges, MBC @ 15psi (stock internals, turbo) and new belts.

On the upside, I think I found some more options ;D
I'll gladly accept help in looking ;D

Chris.

I would keep looking. For 3300 the car should be able to pass inspection, that car won't.

Last night I got back from SBR. I took my 2.3L to them so they could figure out why it had no oil pressure. The conclusion......no balance shaft bearings. They have been very cooperative and easy to work with. They offered to come to my house which is four hours from there shop, but I thought it would be better to do the surgery at their shop, incase they unearthed bigger problems. I should have the new motor in the car soon. I can't wait. :rocks:
Chris

I'd like to meet some people that drive eclipse's that don't always wanna try to race me, ya know? (damn kids)
