I know this is an easy question, but I have no experience with turbos. This car I'm getting has a manual boost control installed (Apexi I think). So my question is how do you use it, like unscrew it to raise boost and tighten it to lower boost? And how do you tell what psi youre running, just by looking at the boost gauge? Thanks in advance.

some use screws, some have a knob you just turn. nah get a aftermarket boost gauge the stock one is terrible

Yes, it has an aftermarket boost gauge, but Im saying is there anyway to tell what psi its set at, or do you just watch the gauge? And this one has a hex nut you twist, I was wondering if you just loosten to increase boost and tighten it to lower boost?

He said he has an aftermarket guage. If youre not sure about which way to turn, just guess and check, and keep a close eye at the boost gauge. Dont turn it too much though, you dont want to use much more then the stock psi on a stock system.

NO! Ok, here's what a boost controller does, in lamen terms. It limits the amount of pressure the Waste Gate "sees", so that the waste gate starts to open later, thus allowing more boost to build up.

I wont get into the mechanics of exactly how the boost controller works, because I'd probably just confuse you more (<== not good at typing explanations), but tightening the screw will allow the waste gate to see less pressure, thus RAISING the boost level.

my fault read it wrong. the boost gauge has numbers on it you just look and see what it's at, if it's more than 15-16 then lower the mbc

It's kind of trial and error with raising boost. Say you're at 12 lbs and want to be at 15 lbs. You tighten the screw or knob and then go for a drive. You look at the boost guage and see you are at 14lbs, so you pull over and tighten it a little more. Keep repeating until you hit the desired boost level :thumb: Eventually you will get the hang of it and pretty know how much you have to turn it to get it where you want

Leaving behind a 91 3000GT VR4, Entering a 97 Eclipse GSX. What is the best type of mbc for these cars?
