Alright i bought me a 1991 5 speed awd drive. I jacked up the rear end and noticed it has a jh1 4 bolt rear diff. This part number is for an auto. So i noticed it looked like someone had been in this rear end so i took off the rear cover and did a ring count. I came up with 39 on the ring gear not the pinion. Is this a manual? or an auto gear set? What are the counts officially? Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the vfaq. Yes someone swapped the manual gears into this rear diff that is for sure an auto diff with jh1 and 3.30 gear ratio written on the cover, but it for sure is a 39 ring 11 pinion count. Woot!

I also found this Ring and pinion caculato for anyones caculating needs.
