Hey what's up guys, I recently bought some new hardware and started threading them into the turbo. Well when taking them out one of tem dexided it was going to be a PITA and cause tention. I had to use a cheater bar to get it off. Well coming to the last one (with new hardware) it went in until about two turns later it didn't want to go anymore. I kept yanking at it (bad move) thinking since it was a pain to come out, it will be a pain to go in and eventually decided it wouldn't go anymore. I purchased a tap and die kit and tried to tap it. That don't work so I drilled the hole with the correct size as stated on the paper and now the damn bolt just falls through (even after tapping it) so after all that I didn't get anywhere. My question is, can I just stick a bolt an washer through the hole and tie it together with a nut on the other end for a couple months? I don't have the money to fix it right now and I'm curious if this would cause any issues.. Thanks in advance!! It's the bottom left bolt.

I mis-drilled a broken bolt in that same location, and ended up drilling the hole out and using a long bolt and nut. I brought the bolt up through the bottom and used the nut and regular lock washer at the top. Worked fine for years, so you can actually do that as a more or less permanent solution if you need to. However, I would recommend using a grade 10.9 bolt, because a grade 8 bolt will stretch.

usually when you drill something out, you remove material, when you use the same size hardware as before, it wont hold to any threads, mainly because the hole is now bigger. But yes, using a nut on one side will work just fine. Remember to use a lock washer on the side with the nut so it doesn't vibrate loose.

OP, if you havnt drilled too much material out, you can buy a helicoil kit. purchase the correct size of drill bit using the chart on the back of the kit, tap the hole, and insert the coil.

Is anybody using the "special" washers that are concave a bit? I have them but am not sure which side should face the nut, concave up or down??? Anyone??? Thanks in advance.

Ok good thing I have 8. So stack them so that they "squish" each other or face them both the same direction. I think you are telling me to put them on so they squish each other, correct?

Thanks for the input, since I am putting the turbo on this weekend! :thumb:

Use anti seize on the threads to reduce future problems in high temperature areas. I've used helicoils but not in a high temp area. Should work. Use a high grade bolt.
