i had a quick question about the seats. how did you restaple the vinyl to the bottom of the seats? i know theres a special tool for that but did you use that or did you just manage to reuse the ones that were on the seats already?

im getting ready to do this to my car so it would really help :thumb:

thanks

Its called a Hog Ring gun. They sell hand held manual ones if you dont want to buy the air powered one.

or you can try to use a pair of plyers and re attach the old hog rings.

Great job on the seats!
I think I'm gonna keep my stock "Black faded to a tint of purple" seats though, has the rustic look :D
Nice shift boot though!
You could sell those for like 50$ and I bet they'd sell.

When i get my car back this weekend from the shop im going to try this, would you recommend for a beginner to do the back or front seat first? im trying to figure out which peice would be easiest so by the time im done that one i have a little bit of practice.

Try the one of the back rests in the backseat first. They are flat and easy...The bottom of the back seat is a little more difficult.

Good Luck man...post pictures when you're done :thumb:

Wow....thats jus bad ass.

Thanks man!

great job man! everyone teased me when i was younger my mother taught me to sew! haha comes in handy huh?? keep up the good work man dont let these guys bs you about stitching and patters..... those seats look perfect!

Well I re-did my seats AGAIN. This time I used suede leather inserts! It's a little lighter colorwise, but they feel MUCH better.

Man your seats are nice. I liked the first set, but the ones with the suede look even nicer. So with the heating pad, is it always heated when the car is running or is there a way to toggle them off and on? :thumb:

Thanks man! Yeah the heated seats are on a switch with HI and LO settings. If they were ON all the time I would be sweating balls in the summer haha.

...after seeing this, and the headliner post i just read, i really wanna tear into the interior of my car...it looks amazing!

:thumb:Nice, those turned out awesome! Very inspiring. This will make a great winter project.
How much previous experience do you have doing upholstery work?

I work at a custom interior company so i guess you could say I have more experience than the average person. I only have sewn a couple times before attempting this project though. Its not that hard.

I have a question about the suede. Is it a automotive material that is UV resitant or do you threat it so it doesn't fade? Also were can you get it?
Yes it is Automotive grade Suede. I actually got this stuff for free. We do custom interiors at my shop. Someone bought a 2009 Toyota 4runner Urban edition with the factory Toyota Suede seats in it. Well they must have not liked the suede cause they had us install black leather in the 4runner. So I saved all the suede off the 4 runner and used it on my car! The suede is a brushed Leather so Its very durable but hard to clean. I'm not sure about the fading...because they are still new. I don't park it outin the sun much anyway. I'm sure they dont fade very easily. No worse than any other leather. As far as getting some suede. I can order you some new suede through my work in just about any color you want!

thats sweet, im gonna have to look into doing this to my seats haha
Let me know if you need yours done. Im only 25 minutes from you!

That is pretty cool, the seats I mean. I did the upolstry on my doors, and headliner, visors. I really want to do my seets and now I have the idea on how to acomplish this. Thank you sir for the input I needed..

Hmm ok how much did all the material cost ya? and how much time did that take?

The material was free cause I got it from work for FREE! But normally its about 400 dollars for a FULL HYDE of leather. If you use Vinyl its WAY cheaper...Im not sure the exact price, but I know its cheaper than leather.

The Time for the front seats was about 6-8 hours by myself. That's Taking off the old stuff making a pattern, Sewing it then Installing it! Plus I had to run wires for the heated seats. Its definately NOT something you can do in a half hour haha.
