Theres been a lot of ppl getting there cars broken into and stolen around here in Tampa, and one just happened today at my job in broad day light, and another in a neighborhood in my city near my neighborhood where a friend got his hooked up honda accord stolen from his driveway while he was sleep and found on a highway 40miles away stripped naked, and I dont have a alarm or anything only tinted windows so I want to make some extra secruity for my car until I get money to get an alarm, and I already have tooo much money invested in my car and ill be damned if it gets stolen and ripped apart and endin up in some chop shop for parts... Therefore I thought about a fuel pump cut off switch to where when the switch is up the fuel pump is normal, but when its down (closed) then its cut off, and Ill have the switch hidden somewhere in the car where only Id know about ( not in an obvious place ) therefore if worse was to happen at least a theif wouldnt be able to drive off with my car ( well maybe hed get like 50 feet away or less on a shut off fuel pump )

( Reason Im not into the battery kill switch is because it resets the ecu everytime you do that and I hate how my
car idles like its about to shut off everytime I do that... )

I was just going to tap into the power wire for the fuel pump, ( isnt that the one used for the fuel pump rewire mod? )
Any opinions, experience, or tips on doing this, thanks....

You can do like youve stated above, using the fuel pump wire or i think ive read either on theses forums or vfaq.com forums that someone shows the fuel pump rewire using a wire under the dash somewhere. Which ever you do you want to make sure what kind of switch you use will handle the power going through if or use a relay on the switch.

People doing the fuel pump rewire have a natural place to put a cut off switch. If you stick it in the ground circuit for the fuel pump relay just about any tiny switch will work since at most your switching 500mA (1/2A). If you put the switch in the pump power or ground wires you have to switch the entire fuel pump current (from 5 to 20+A, depending on the pump).

Did you ever consider a quick release steering wheel? You can't steal what you can't drive, and its a visual deterant (sp?) as well that will prevent them from breaking into it in the first place. They won't realize your fuel pump is disconnected until they've already broken their way inside, possibly with damage to the car. Not to mention it gets rid of the huge, ugly stock piece and gives you that "fast and furious" look.:p

yea i thought of the steering wheel mod, but im always rushing to work and wouldnt have time to take it off every day and where would i put it carry it in my job with me? ( I have one of those Ralliart racing steering wheels by the way ) I thought the pump idea would be quick and easy and I can live with someone robbing from the car , but stealing the whole car is another different story...
I never did the fuel pump rewire mod yet, it looked kind of confusing how vfaq was explaning it, i dunno if any of you guys done it with a different or easier way but if so let me know how you did it, but ( saying I didnt do the rewire mod ) how would I go about making this on off switch, which by the way I was thinking about removing the drivers seat and putting it under there on a single toggle switch panel (the kind you can get at pepboys) and bolting it down to the floor board (think thats a good inconcivible place?)

You say all I have to do is splice into the ground wire and it should shut it off? (and where is the ground circuit relay thing at where i can hook the switch to? )
Or i need a relay with the power wire... (not really a genious on the electrical here)
