i'm looking for assistance in planning a switch for my taillights. The switch is to include the brake light and driving lights. this is for off road use only so please don't ask me why i'm doing this. can someone please help shine light on what wires from the harness i should connect to a switch. Thanks much in advance.

i am thinking i will need to connect two separate wires to the switch, or run two different switches depending on the current. input?

both!! if i had the battery hooked up i would just probe till i found the right ones. but maybe someone knows the color codes for the ones i need!

Ok, get a heavy duty DPST - double pole, single throw switch (or DPDT - double pole, double throw if can't find that and use just half of it). Here's what a heavy duty DPDT switch looks like from Home Depot: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/att...ing-issue-plus-wiring-them-up-dpdt-switch.jpg.

And here's the terminals identification: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/att...plus-wiring-them-up-dpdt-switch-terminals.jpg

Disconnect battery negative. Cut the green wire from the stop light switch (on brake pedal). Connect one end to "B" and the other end to "A". Find the green/white wire that goes to the rear lights. It should be on the junction block 10 pin connector C-53 pin 4. Cut it and connect one end to "E" and the other end to "D". Reconnect battery. Now one switch position will connect them normally and the other disconnect them.

aww the good ole days of doing bad things late at night.

i used to have a cut off switch for all my lights except my headlights, and hid it in my ashtray.
