Making an "Anime" version of your car [Merged 2-7] cartoon cell shading

you need alot of layers, and then position those layers in the order they should be. see you make just the outline on a new layer as your draw over the original pic of your car. then make another layer with just the base color, one for the shadows, highlights, windows, wheels, etc. you will want the layers with the shadows and highlights to be on top of the base color obviously, and so on. you get what i am saying. i think i finished with like 11 different layers. the order you place them in determines what you will see. i could have a big black line on a layer right over the body...but since i placed the body color layer on top of the big black line, you wouldnt be able to see it. i hope i helped you in some way.

so how would i get the shadows and highlights in? would i jsut use the polygonal lasso tool to select the car again, and then DRAW in the highlights and shadows, etc.? im no good when it comes to multiple layed stuff, so this stuff is getting to me. right now i only got two layers, my background and my outline. argh why me!

just make a new layer on top of your car and then use the pen tool or whatever you used to draw the outline and then fill the outline in solid. it will look funny until you adjust the opacity to make it blend in and look subtle.

so then with the highlights and shadows, id ahve to make a new layer and color all that in? right now im using a paintbrush and free handing everything, this is what i did on the outline. so right now i have a new layer and painting it in with a paintbrush. does this sound ok to u guys or am i screwing up somewhere. i dont even know what the point of having a base body is...whats the point of it? this is all completely new to me...im used to lowering, adding carbon fiber hoods, and all taht stuff....none of this turning cars into cartoons stuff LOL.

C'mon now...someone with some free time, hook a brother up ;)

before i even make an attempt at this i need a new mouse. i will be moving th emouse and cursor would jsut freeze. anyone have any suggestions on a one worth purchasing?
