soooo I just got the free photoshop and all. I'm either an absolute ####ing moron or this thing is just rediculously confusing and impossible to use. I cant find a freakin line tool to do the first damn step!

Click and hold the Box, Then select Line Tool. You can chose two different colors where you see Black and White, and see the two arrows next the white and black box, click that to switch colors. Zoom In like 300-400% And just make the lines, Then Select the Eye on the Layer that is the actual image, not the lines, so you'll make it go invisible, then click Layer, Merge Visible to merge all the lines together. Then you can make the image layer visible again and continue making more lines.

REMEMBER TO SAVE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN PSD FORMAT AND DO NOT MERGE VISIBLE WHEN YOUR IMAGE IS VISIBLE. YOU WANT TO ONLY MERGE THE LINES INTO ONE LAYER, IT TOOK OVER 300 LINES FOR MY RECENT PHOTO. SO YOU DON'T WANT 300 LAYERS, YOU WANT ONE LAYER THAT IS THE FRAME OF THE CAR, THEN ANOTHER LAYER TO COLOR INSIDE THE LINES, AND THEN YOU WONT NEED THE ORIGINAL IMAGE ANYMORE. PLAY AROUND WITH PHOTOSHOP, MAKE IMAGE COPIES SO YOU CAN LEARN THINGS OUT WITHOUT DAMAGING ANYTHING.

Step 4

Then select the Polygonal Lasso Tool and select an area between the black lines that you made. Or select an area with a similar color, not necessarily one that is between black lines. Like so...

Actually, instead of using Polygonal Lasso Tool, you can use the Magic Wand next to the Lasso Tool, and just click inside the lines and it will select the area you need instead of you doing it manually. Saves a lot of time.

What, you guys did all the work. I found it easier to just go to photobucket and click the cartoon button and then fix it from there!
I know it's not close but you kind of get the picture. And from there just go to the advance tab and fix it up!

But you guys got skills though. I took the easy way out!

Yeah that is not the same! However, that makes me wanna get some colored pencils and do this same thing, but with paper and a real photo....

Steve, give me a few days and I'll do one for you. I'm workin on some images and I plan on doing a HUGE Mitsubishi Scene using this technique.

I did these a long time ago, they were done essentially the same method but in Flash, they start out as "line drawings" that get filled and the lines deleted afterwards.

Keep in mind these are really old (back in my high school days) this was art I used in a comic book I designed "Ricer" just showcasing the "line drawing" method I stated earlier.

Hey Steve, I'm playin around right now. Not done, but almost done with the frame of your car. However post this image on any color background and it will make the color of the car the same as the background hehe, its transparent!

I usually stock up on Mountain Dew and munchies. If you need any advice on something just ask. I've paused Project2G's image right now because of eye allergies that are giving me a PITA to focus.
