i was driving my 96 gsx today and i was going about 80 and all of a sudden i hear like kinda a boom sound and i looked behind me, tons of smoke and i came to a stop and shutted it of. There is oil on the bottom of the engien and it came out the tail pipe, also the dipstick had came out and oil was all in the bay of the car and it cought on fire. but i put it out right away so it did not damange anything that i can see. When i stoped there was like flames coming out the back tail pipe were the oil was. Any help would be appriciated on what happend. (do you think i will need a rebuild or anything??)

NEXT DAY:
i looked under the hood today and all the oil is underneath the car not aroung the head or anything. any suggestions of what happend would be helpfull.

That or somebody installed a Pratt and Whitney while you were going down the road.

Look at the area around your oil pan to see if you have a hole anywhere. Major oil leaks and loud bangs usually signify FUBAR. However, do a compression test if you cannot find the hole in your pan. I was suspicioning a thrown rod or somethiing on that order. Check it over closely in the crank area for external damage.

Let us know what the compression test shows you.

Good Luck
