Hey everyone is there a big difference between the magnus street and race intake? Has anyone run both of these? On magnus site they show 40hp gains on street but dont show gains on race, unless i was looking in the wrong place. Was looking to get one asap. Thanks everyone for your input!!

i was curious as to what the difference between the two was as well... anyone have any input?

Pretty simple... Street manifold is for turbo's smaller than 35r (or similar), race manifold for 35r and larger. A race manifold with too small of turbo will only hurt spool and midrange power. A street manifold with 35r+ turbo will yield better spool and midrange but you will not make as much power up top as the race manifold will.

Usually an intake marked as Drag will be of better efficiency with the usually very large turbo used in drag races, that takes longer to spool, versus a street intake, which like the title states, is more streetable and spools quicker (because of the smaller turbo), I haven't tryed both btw but from my knowledge, that's what I'd assume.

At worst just call them, I'm sure they'll be happy to help you out if you're interested in one.

I have a Venom SMIM (very big plenum) with a TD06 20g. I also have GSC s2 cams and although I am getting 20psi by 3900rpm, the low end is such a dawg. However, after 4600rpm until about 7600rpm, the car pulls like a raped ape. I hit 45lbs/min of airflow at 21psi at 7k. Is the car not fun to drive? It all depends. It doesn't really pull around the city that well, but once I have space to get WOT for a whole gear, it puts a huge smile on my face.

Thats interesting. So i have the street SMIM, had a Big 16g, but just picked up a 35r. Your saying that Im going to limit to maximum potential of it now?

You more than likely will make an obscene amount of power pending your setup and tuning is done right, BUT a race SMIM would more than likely show some gains on the top end. It all depends on what you want out of the car. To be honest with you, i'm up for trading my Venom for something a little smaller. My new turbo will spool about 1000rpm later than my 20g and I would rather have the car a little more peppy vs the extra power up top.

Not even close... There is a MASSIVE size difference between the Race and the street, double the size. I've ran both and have both and have pictures to compare but I am on my phone right now and can't post them.

If you guys want the comparison search my username for my build thread "The Raven" and look through the first few pages and I believe I have a bunch of pics listed showing side by side comparisons.

I ran the street on my 35r setup and it was PERFECT btw. I have sense upgraded from a 40r to a HX52 and S400 so unless you are talking larger framed turbos, or higher RPM setups, don't bother changing up your power band so drastically.

The JMF line of manifolds have a middle sized manifold that might better suit your needs if a typical Magnus and JMF street isn't enough. I believe it is their JMF "race" manifold which is in between the size of a JMF/Magnus street and a Magnus Race/JMF Drag manifold.
