i am going to get an maft blow through setup pretty soon and i was reading about how you can vent your bov to the atmoshpere. i was wondering if you can vent to the atmos. then you should be able to run without an intake at all. like wide open turbo. would there be benefits out of this or no. i love the sound of my turbo and i figured without the intake you should hear the turbo really good.

yes you could, but i and pretty much everyone on here would highly recommend not to do that. You have an airfilter for a reason. To keep dibree (sp?) outta there. Turbos and any thing internal in your engine, are not cheap to replace. By running a wide open turbo, you're exposing your engine to mother nature. just imagine the damage you could expect driving on a freshly paved road with all the little loose rocks on it that they put all over new asphault roads. You'd be sucking all that crap into your engine. You could even just park the car like that, and have a rodent crawl up in there and make itself at home in your intercooler endtank. That'd be a hell of problem to troubleshoot. I can hear it now, "please help" wierd squeeking sound coming from passenger side of car, even when its off. Possibly need new struts? haha, im just messin about that man, but seriouslly, not a good idea to run a fully exposed turbo inlet. You can make your own inlet pipe for cheap by following the tech article on this site.

A good idea would be, now that you are free from the restrictions of the MAS, a custom stainless steel pipe with an air filter only, that would be sick as hell, its a clean look, and the turbo would definitely still be loud. If you are show and go, then just fab it so you can take it off if ur gonna open the hood or something, or do a dyno run. I would laugh when one of those supra guys blows up their open turbo setup due to road debris. Just my 2 cents

It is also a good idea to try to get some cooler air in there, do you really want to be pulling it hot air from the exhaust mani/radiator area? With my Maft in blowthrough I run a 3 inch pipe with a fliter smacked on the end, plain and simple.
