I just recently installed a ported Evo 3 16G on my car, and I cant get it tuned for sh*t. When I had the T25 on there I tuned it pretty good. Now that I have the evo III it runs lean, or so I think. On my a/f ratio guage with the T25 at wot it stayed in the green, w/ E3 it stays in red and doesnt even come on most of the time. I have the Maft ver 2.01 and a logger with the tunerstein software, stock fuel pump (walbro 190 going will be installed as soon as my gas tank is on E), stock injectors. Im afraid to do a wot pull to see what the O2v is because that a/f guage stays in the red (I know you cant tune with them). I have the maft set for 450cc inj, nothing else. Any ideas on what I should set it at because I dont have a clue. Also on the logger my fuel trim is displayed as long trim and short trim, how do I get the % of those. Someone please help, I cant even test out my new turbo because Im afraid of running to lean. I forgot to mention Im running 10psi.
 
A 16g @ 10psi on the stock fuel set up should not run you lean, unless you have the Maf Translator set to read more air entering the motor then what the turbo is really flowing. The A/F gauge is worthless in my opinion and unless you have a wide band O2 sensor I have never seen one read correctly. You obviously have a logger so use it. That will be your trust worthy peice of equipment for monitoring your motor right now. On your translator you should have all the setting set to 0 and since you have stock injectors there is no reason to mess with that until you get a good solid 3rd gear pull down.

Dont worry about your A/F gauge, pay more attention to your logger (You should log RPM, timing, O2... but pay more attention to your timing curve, it should be nice and smooth, no major jumps or dips.)

Once you get a good pull down come back and post your log, then we'll go from there if you still need help.

Thanks for the info I will try to get a good log tonight and post it up to see what its doing. I used my logger to tune it before with the stock turbo, I just used the a/f guage to kinda get an idea of what the car was doing. At wot it would stay in the green meaning it was a little rich. With the 16g it stays in the red meaning lean. How rich or lean? Dont know, I was just using it as a reference but maybe it is screwed up, from now on no matter what it says I am going to use the logger. Again thanks for the help.\ :thumb:

Dude, you need to re-read the MAFT 2.01 setup instructions closely. I'm running a very similar setup w/ EVO turbo, 450 injectors, and 10PSI on 93 pump.

Assuming you first did a boost leak test after installing your new turbo:
Set your Aux knob=4 and Base=2 on the MAFT (450 inj comp). You do NOT zero everything out. Adjust your idle by adjusting your idle knob if you are too lean and O2 values are not cycling.

Next set your low throttle trims looking at your logger STFT and LTFT. You want to get these trims close to 0% by adjusting your base knob (control inj compensation)during a steady 60MPH cruise. Get your trims adjusted before touching the WOT knobs. If your trims are good, you should see your O2 values cycle during low throttle.

With the WOT knob zero'd, you should be ok to make a 3rd gear pull safely. I had to lean my car quite abit after logging with a wideband.
 
I read the directions and thought I had everything setup ok but I guess not, I just logged a run and here are my results.

That was a 3rd gear pull at wot, the boost stayed at 10 then creeped to 15, when it hit 15 my car sounded like it exploded and a black cloud of smoke shot out my exhaust. Thats whay I stopped pulling at 5280 because I thought the car shut off.
 
I think I found my problem. My check engine light has been on for a while now (rear 02 sensor) but I decided to scan it last night and it came up with a p0125 code. I searched around and found out it was the front o2 sensor so I am going to the zone today to buy a new one, also I know I am not running lean because my gas mileage has went to sh*t in the past 3 days.
 
The front o2 sensor was my problem. Everything is fixed and the car runs better than it ever has, even though it still needs to be tuned. Anyways thanks for all the help. :thumb:
 
After you replaced your 02 sensor, you didn't hit that backfire at 5000RPM? I ask because I haven't been able to tune my B16G. No matter what I do, I can't get more than 5000 RPM. I don't have boost leaks. I'm going to get some dyno-tuning at AMS, but I don't want to waste my money if I can't get a good dyno run because the 02 sensor is messed up.
 
After replacing that o2 sensor the car ran like it was brand new. No backfires and it idles soo smooth you cant even tell that it is running. Also I think the back fire might have been cuased because the turbo creeped to 15 psi and it was just to mutch for the stock fuel system to handle, but it hasnt happened again and I hope it never does.
