Do I need the MAFT Translator if I am going to use the DSM Link? I want to do away with the 1G MAF and I have read that GM seems like the way to go... WHat version of the Translator is out now?

Feedback?

You will still need the Maf-Translator to use the GM maf. Why? because the maf tranlator provides the connections to the GM Maf, as well as changes the signal to work w/ DSM's Karmon system. DSMLink doesn't provide you w/ a plug, or wiring of any sort for using a GM Maf on a DSM.

You don't need the highest version of the translator since you are just going to be zeroing out all the settings and tuning with the link.

Assuming I get the Link... is the GM MAF the way to go? Or is there another MAF out there that is better suited for the Link?

I will see improvements with the GM MAF over the 1G one.... right?

DSMlink and MAFT is a good set-up together. As someone allready said, you will be setting your MAFT to your injector size and then zeroing out the other settings. The only gain you will get from it will probably be quicker spool (blow-thru setup of course). You would also be able to vent your BOV to the atmosphere without any negative affects. And also, the 3" GM filter has a larger diameter, so it will be less of a restriction. Another thing is that many people (depending on which turbo you have) can build boost off the line after mounting the MAS post-turbo (perfect if you're a drag racer). I believe the newest version of the MAFT out right now is v2.01, but the new MAFT Pro is coming out very soon, so you might want to wait for it's release.

Can you provide details as to what the MAFT Pro will bring to the table? In my case it wont make a difference since I will be just using the MAFT for the Injector settings and doing everything else with the Link?

I see that they are going in the route of Link and other piggy backs. So its allot more than a translator now...

I would only use the translator to convert the MAF's airflow signals into Karman. Set the translator for stock injector size. Why? Basically because you can set things such as deadtime and injector size easy enough in the software, making it more concise. Also, the guys at ECMTuning already set your injector size and deadtime before shipping.
Also, Tom and Dave are working on getting DSMLink to translate the signals from the MAF directly, eliminating the need for a translator. Don't hold your breath though. It's a work in progress.

Yes, that is what I meant. I too have mine set for stockers. I just wanted to clarify NOT to zero out the injector settings along with everything else. :thumb:
