Anyone else experience this? I hit fuel cut only when its raining out. The car wants to pull like mad but if I go 100% throttle I hit fuel cut. Is this because Im picking up some water in my intake tract via the cold air intake? Only thing I can think of is that the hot wire sensor gets wet and doesnt read airflow correctly. Someone help me out.

Ok lets try this again. Does anyone know if when the maf sensor is damp or wet if it is still functional?? I hit 1603 hz and then wham fuel cut. On the way home from work today it must have dried out though cause it did not do it anymore. Surely someone has experienced this also.

This was talked about over on another forum. Basically moisture can affect the hotwire mas and make it read differently.

One way to help make the sensor act a little better during wet weather is to make sure the maf has the orignial screens in place.

The information in the other thread said the mas would read a higher amount of air when moisture hits the hotwire. Maybe you should invest in a chip that takes the fuel cut out of the stock ecu. Then when this happens it would just make you run richer than normal, which is better than fuel cut IMO.

This was the answer I was looking for thank you!! :) I am running 650s and a big 16g. Nothing that the stock ecu along with the maft couldnt handle appropriately. Just strikes me as odd that the maft would act this way because of a little moisture. I have made an intake shroud to protect the filter from ingesting any more water. Thanks for the knowledgable replies!

The water hitting the hotwire cools it down more than the air alone would, so airflow gets artificially inflated.

Even witht he shroud I made for the filter im still hitting fuel cut when it rains out. Oh well time for that Kyle Tarry ecu chip to kill many birds with one stone.

I now know how to burn a decent code. Well one good enough for my needs that is. Scored an eprom ecu today traded even up for my old motor. Life is good.
