I just grabbed a 3" gm maf and a translator for my gst spyder, I thought for the most part is was plug and play, but now im hearing from others it needs to be tuned? Does anyone know how to tune a maft and the difficulty of doing so?

thanks

What mods do you have ? zero it out for now .Unless you have other than stock injectors. than you atleast set it up for your size injectors. Then zero out the rest.

As of right now im still using my stock ecu, when I do decide to get ecm link ill probably just sell the maft and get the maf cable and run it straight to the ecu.. I am doing minor bolt on stuff until winter when the car is useless and then I will be building the motor and throwing on a gtx30r. I have fic 1950's for the car, but I dont think I should put those on with the evo 3 I've got on the car now.. I will be running e85 which takes up to 40% more fuel which is why im using such big injectors.

If im running stock in injectors at the moment I can just "zero" the maft out and it will run fine with benefit of more air flow?

Zero out for stock but i would get a logger or dsmlink to tune with, the
Its not meant to be used by itself.

Will it work for a few months alone with a stock ecu or would you not reccomend it? I plan on getting ecm link, just not until I put the car away for winter and start building it.

It is meant to be used alone. And it will work beautifully if you have time to log the car, the extra airflow and the change in sensor location ( upper intercooler pipe? ) will cause a slightly different affect so you may have to change a few things bit they are super simple to tune with low med and wot, you.could also connect the white wire ( I think) and tune by rpms instead.

Get a wideband, link, safc to help with the tune something. Sure you can adjust a few knobs fine, did that but not good without my logger to help. But you need to see whats going on.I used it with a logger, and a wideband sold it and got dsmlink.
