2G MAF problem unplugged car runs like a dream

So I’m still very very new to the Dsm scene I just got my ride cranked over for first time other day idled little funny thought maybe just needs a tune and test for vacuum leaks and boots leaks. As soon as I go to rev slightly car stalls instantly. Kept trying keeps stalling. My buddy got the idea to unplug the maf and try it car starts up idles nice and actually revs. What might be going on here?

honestly im not sure i was hoping maybe someone else had this issue as well and could explain it.

your MAF sensor isn't working right. with it plugged in, your ecu is getting shit information from it. when you unplug it, the ecu goes into fail safe mode and runs off of the TPS and crank sensor signals (see below)

So essentially just need a new maf sensor

Don't assume that's it. Chek the harness too. If you have a spare maf or could borrow one that would at least make for quick elimination.
