Ok I hope i dont get flamed too bad but ill give it a shot. For starters I have searched for days on this topic. Yahoo, tuners, talk, nabr... Just finished 8 pages on this site to find it was locked. Yes I did read it and its ok I guess im a dummy. Everyone talks about 300m coils to haltec stand alones but no ls1 coils.
I have a 94 dsm and I have purchased an ls1 cop set(well it has 4 coils atleast) from another local dsmer. The instructions I got said to remove the transistor pack and wire in my 4 wires(from the cop) to the tp harness. One is 12+, one ground and 2 signals. Each coil has 3 wires. 12+, ground and signal. Basically it is hooks up with all the 12+ spliced together, all the ground spliced and each signal spliced per 2 coil. It works fine so far except no tach. Now what I am understanding is the tach signal comes from the igniter.
I know Buschur (and others) sell a cop set that is a direct plug in for the stock coil harness. I have not seen one in person. I am assuming each coil only has 2 wires, ground and signal? So what im asking is could I plug in my ingniter and use the 12+ that I tapped and just use the signals/ground off the stock coil harness? So my tach will work. I am a little nervous to go messing with stuff im not sure about. I just got my car running this past week from being down for over a year. And I dont want to screw anything up.
Please dont make this a "why the f are you doing this? stock is fine" war. I have a smim and have nowhere to mount my coil pack. It just seemed like a good idea at the time and it deff looks cleaner. Here is a pic of my setup.

I know this doesn't help at all and I'm sorry but I seriously thought this was going to be a thread about a cop car with an ls1 engine.
whoops
