Yeah, sorry about the size, but I wanted the audio to come through good, and otherwise it would have been crappy. I've also got an MP3 of just the flyby somewhere, I can upload that to you too Boostin'.

My PC/ windows media player says error d-loading codec ?? I may just be my POS PC.

Don't have much time, but I'll give a quick testimony. Installed the unit a couple days ago with a 3" MAS, draw-through set-up. Truly plugnplay. Car started up and idled fine with no tweaking whatsoever. Haven't had time to do much tuning with it yet, but at stock settings I am hitting fuel cut at about 16 psi. I haven't turned it off with the dip switch. I only plan on doing that at the track. I believe I can tune out the fuel cut by leaning out the WOT adjustment a little because right now as far as the ECU knows its acting exactly like a 1G MAS. I'll be doing this tonight. My mods are in the sig. I have 650cc injectors in the mail that should make the tuning easier.

One more thing...SPOOLUP IS INCREDIBLE!!! They weren't lying when they said 750 RPM quicker on the 16g. I can't hardly get on the gas without the turbo wanting to spool...I love it! Throttle response is incredible. Great job Mike!

hmm, could i take the ends off the MAF and have a 3"-2.5" metal reducer welded on at a mufflet shop? that sounds like a good idea to me

Sounds like a good plan to me, just make sure to grind the welds on the inside of the MAF ends smooth, and pressure test it so there's no leaks. Muffler shop will probably have trouble welding mild steel to aluminum though, I'd get some aluminum reducers, and find somewhere that can TIG weld aluminum.

Hey whoever has the vid downloaded put it on Kaza so we can get it. :) there must be 200+ peaple tryin to download it. LOL 2kb a sec on a t1 line aint good. ;)

I'll toss it up on my Kazaa tonight when I get home. Filename will be maf.avi And the MP3 will be maf.mp3

Now I remeber what dail-up was like !!! back when I was 15 2.9KB/sec kicked ass... Kaza 4 sho !! Thanks for hosting still...

thanks.
ok new question...will the unavoidable amount of oil floating thru the IC pipes effect the MAF in any way? (will it need a regular cleaning?)

Hey did you guys that have this installed see a big difference in spool time? If you did how much?

750 rpm seems like alot.

[edit: missed the last line of your post]

DC: Spoolup time isn't a really measurable difference.

It's all ass-o-meter measurements, but I can honestly say that it made a HUGE difference in spool time over a stock 1gmas, more than my 2.5" turbo back did over stock. Light throttle, and off-on throttle changes were noticably more responsive as well.

I'm wondering if the air sensors that people are getting have the plastic or aluminum ends.

I can only find the ones with the plastic ends from the salvage yards.

TIA

Mike,
I read on another board that there is a switch on the translator to change from the 1G MAF calibration, to the 2G MAF calibration? Is this correct?
Also, how did you arrive at your 1G and 2G MAF calibrations? Was it on a flowbench? Do you have any test results for how closely it matches up?
Is there any problem in running this without the RPM wire hooked up? I am asking because I have a 2G, and have no desire to use the translator to tune, I already have something to tune with. I don't need the airflow clamp, RPM or airflow based fuel settings. I just want it to plug in using the 2G connector, no additional wiring, and have it work just like stock, only less restrictive.

Thanks,
Brad

i got the translator and the mas today. it was truly christmas all over again. ok, the mas has a screen on it. is it ok to cut this off?

thanks.

Does anyone have any ideas yet on how YOU are gonna do the piping yet? I really want this thing, but i don't have a ton of time to figure out the setup. Mayby some pics...or anybody's personal views would be cool...you can PM me with your ideas.

i have the piping all figured out. i walked around home depot looking and i came across 3" to 2" reducers. they were black rubber and in the plubing section they work awesome! nice and smooth and 5 bucks.

That will burst under repeated boosting. I used those couplers for my 2.5" UIC to SMIC connection. They will split at the seam where the coupler actually "reduces".
