LS-1 MAF translator vs ARC-2/ VPC

woah, back on topic. ok, i need to figure out for SURE how to "splice" this so it works on my 2g.

i think im ordering a 3" vpc style intake from dejontool, and tryin the blow through setup. now how will i run my uicp setup,i have a custom made 2.5in pipe now, but its metal and ill probly replace it. any suggestions. somewhere it was said there was a uicp being made for the ls1 mas to just bolt on. so where is it at? does anyone know if ramchargers is backorderded with these things? long story but my car is running so rich its drowning in its own gas, this new setup came just in time, i have to get, its too dam perfect.

just got my MAF for $50 shipped, yay. gettin the box soon (come on buy some CD's)
LOSE the caps ineedapaintjob....then READ the posts. this is done by scrolling your eyes left to right along the words then moving down a line. once you see the word translate it into language inside your head.

Well, the pics and a demo video are on the way. Unfortunately the sony software was disagreeable, so I've got to take the memory stick to BestBuy and rip the pictures there, but we did get the video.

As soon as I get the cd from my roommate (tonight) I'll put them up.

Will it support 720cc injectors? Thats all i need to know before i order this. If not, I'm goin with a 2G MAS from mitsu graveyard at 1/3 the cost. I don't mind spending the extra money for something that will work. But if there are limitation to the injector size, I think we should know before we go out and spend 250-350 for this setup then it doesn't work with our setup and have to sell it on the trader for half of what we got it for then buy something that does works.

Yes, 720's will work fine.

The MAF Translator is an AFC-like device that converts from hotwire to karmann. You tune around bigger injectors like you would with an S-AFC.

The comment Mike made about the 160lb injectors was because in units we're used to seeing, those injectors are 1680cc units.

I was thinking about the blow vs draw through today.I figure that with all the work needed to go blow through what will we gain?Bov noise( or better aftermarket bov support ect.)? I think with the big 3 (or3.5) maf at the end of the turbo and a good k&n the bov will be alot louder anyway. I just don't see the benefit of blow through. It has to cause a slight restriction of the intake flow( post turbo, which tends to mess up air flow/vortex). If there are any non bov related benefits ( aside form crazy 4 inch turbo inlets and easier intake routing) let me know. Building a good sealed intake pipe will be alot harder than a plug and play draw through system.

I saw this question somewhere else in this thread, or on another board. I have yet to figure out what they have to do with each other They are two seperate systems. One measures intake airflow, the other measuers partial pressures in the exhaust gasses to determine AF ratio. There is nothing to be "compatible" with. So the short answer to your question is "yes."

My 3" junkyard MAF ($30) just showed up. Certainly more flow area than the 1G MAF, but I can see now why people would port them, or move to the Granatelli MAF: there's this honkin' great chunk of metal in the middle of the thing, splitting top and bottom.

Still, the proof will be in the eatin'. Got to find me a 1G aircan lid to mu-ti-late.

Let me clarify a little. They will "work" The car will run and start. The car will also run much leaner than it will with an unmodified sensor, you can tune that out with the Translator. In the end it will run the same, no better, maybe worse, be harder to tune and cost you more money, NO benifit IMO

I found the 3" sensor for $76.23 new from HERE but wonder if that includes the inlet/outlet "horns"?

My eyes are numb from reading all 10pgs of posts.. but am giddy nonetheless. Looks like an excellent product.. too bad I invested in a 2G MAS and Dejan pipe last year. Hey anyone wanna buy it from me for say $199 and a GM MAS .
