ok i have a 2.5 in mandrel bent cat back with a real apexi N1 universal muffler. it is quite loud and pretty obnoxious on trips, do you think if i welded in a Flowmaster 40 series it would lower the tone and make a decent low sound?

Do you have the N1 silencer? My car's turbo, so it might be a little different, but with the silencer in, it's nearly stock sounding.

silencers = t3h gheyness....get a resonator and be done with it :thumb:

i realize that the resonators are cheap and whatnot i had one on my first cat back. i was just thinking that it might sound cool with a flowmaster muffler in there

One of my good friends at Exile Racing Technologies told me one time about "Franken-catback." It was a custom, mandrel-bent 2.5" I.D. catback exhaust they made from some stainless sections and some galvanized sections they had lying around, just to use up some scrap. They installed a Flowmaster, I'm not sure exactly which Flowmaster, but I want to say he told me a Delta 40 (?). He said that, upon starting the car up, it sounded like a really pissed-off minature NASCAR machine. He said it was cool in that Holy shit! That's ####ing loud, man! kinda way, but not in the Hey, I want to be seen driving something that loud kinda way.

I've also got a friend here in Phoenix (well, he's USMC 2nd FAST Co. now, so he could be anywhere), who installed a Delta on his mostly stock 99 2GNT. With the cat in place, it's loud and rumbly. With the test pipe in? Well, let's just say his fiancee must really love him to not have the car put back in while he out of town. ;)

Check out a SpriaFlow resonator.. those are bad ass for lowering the tone. Also, silencers are awesome. I used mine all the time.. cause I was rockign 3" to a Tanabe 3.14 muffler (a.k.a. empty can that looks good on the end of your exhaust) I finally put in a cheap ebay resonator and am very happy with the sound. But I use the silencer when I got company riding along... really lets me hear the turbo actually

great, so im about to put my apexi ni muffler on...i guess its gonna sound like garbage? ive got headers, downpipe, and a high flow cat on already...is the sound nice or what? or jus annoying as hell "why did i put this on" kinda sound?

Are you just getting it put on the stock cat back? or did you get the whole apexi catback system? regardless of the fact... I'm sure it will sound just like all the n1's Ive heard, which sound good. Just a little loud at sometimes, but sound wise :thumb:

I think your going to like it. My buddy has headers, ebay high flow, and a complete Apex N1. The N1 kit has another resonator in it though. If your leaving your factory resonator on, it shouldn't be that loud at all.

When I first got my car done last year, I didn't have my exhaust welded up yet.. so I was running on my 3" DP, to the factory cat and resonator... I had cut the exhaust off after the resonator to take it off. It sounded good actually...LOL. Put your N1 muffler on, but leave the factory resonator on.

Mine is 2.5 piping after the cat no resonator. it is almost honda sounding, definitly put a resonator in there. im going when spring comes around and the weather is better.

right now this is what i have ( u might of seen em in the other topic)

i got them on ebay. i got the header,dp, and a high flow cat for a lil more than a $100 :thumb: i know a couple people who have ordered from the same person and they have approved, no cracks or anything

what would having a straight pipe like this do? sound wise....right now my exhaust, when i get up to like 6k sounds "hondaish", every since i put the high flow cat on.

would the straight pipe make it deeper? or what?

no.. test pipes don't make a deeper sound. The only way sound gets deeper is if you have more resonating chambers or you make your piping larger.

Exhaust note is hard to get the way you want it by talking about it on here. What I did is 3" to my tanabe.. and I'm adding resonators, cat, spiraflows, whatever as I go. So far I only have one 14" long 3" resonator on where the cat should be. This way I started with the absolute loudest and raspiest sound possible and I'm just muffling it as I go to where I like.

I'm so glad I have a welder... makes this stuff so much easier

Dude... V6 Mustangs are slow as hell.. I'd hope you can beat them... thats my daily driver. Slow slow slow... 16.2 @ 89mph. Good trap speed, shitty time.
